Thanks to the Vmod guide here, I was able to mod my BBA x850xtpe :D The copper sinks were the toughest part of the mod as I had to cut them from a 1u Xeon Heatsink.....

Sorry I know it's 3 pics (and the limit's 2) but hopefully it's OK since 2 fit on one line :p

Luck... Remember, Stilt goes through litterally hundreds of cards looking for those 'gems,' which he then refines even further by volt-modding and putting some kick-ass cooling on it!

Basically, if you only pick up one card to buy, it could be a good one or a bad one, some cards barely overclock at all, and some will get up to some awsome clocks. Some handle the voltage well, where as some others (of the same batch) might not.

===========================
Stilt: Do you ship your cards to the UK? and how much!!!! please, i'm dying to know!
===========================

Shipping to UK is not a problem, since UK is part of european union :)

You can send me some mail if you want to know more.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I find a place to buy the trimmer pots from. Where do you all get yours?

Now i installed passive heatsinks on the power regulating parts, with a fan, which i can adjust with ATI Tool. :)

Now i need a 250k for the Igpu mod.

Just like ViperJohn said, the resistor is not needed.
Just replace the excisting one with a small bridge or 0ohm resistor.
You can also use some conductive paint to short the resistor if you don´t want
to unsolder it.

Actually that is not exactly what I said lol. That Igpu mod is not and never was needed on the x8 cards at all.

I want to try everything... ;)

So, solder a bridge over the resistor should work, or not?

Not needed?
Is there a another way to get over ~1.8V? ;)

I've never run the Vcore than high as it is typically well over the wall for 90% of the cores made even on phase change. A couple of my customers have run X850's at 1.850 loaded Vcore without issues though.

On R420 cards dynamic current limiting by ever widening the unloaded to loaded Vcore droop will keep the loaded Vcore under 1.60 anyway if the FAN5240 is operating within spec unless DCL is modded. That has nothing at all to do with the Igpu shutdown timer setpoint mod.

Where are you guys getting your parts, and how do you stick the POTs on so nicely?

GravediggA, mind telling me where you got your parts, and how you stuck it on? :) Also, that blue one is a double POT? I see you have two pairs of wires going to it. Thx in advance... I'm on a maze4 acetal, and my temps on my gto2 @ 550/615 are 28c idle 32c load. I have a lot of headroom cuz of my nice temps. I want to get more of an OC on both core and mem.

I don't think u are from germany, or? So it will not help u to tell u the shops i bought the parts. ;)

The blues are two, just glued together and all VRs fixed with glue on the PCB.

Thx for the prompt response. I will just try radioshack or something in the US I guess.

So you hotglued the VRs down? Also, none of you recommend the iGPU from what I see. I guess I'll just do the VDD, VDDQ (no clue what this really does anyways), and VGPU. I'm looking for 650/650 as my goal.

Yes, but no hotglue, it is with "superglue". ;)

U do not need the Igpu, if u not want to give more then 1,8V to the GPU. Do the Vgpu and Vdd + Vddq and u should reach 650MHz for the GPU, but not sure for the RAM, bcs. a lot of times, u get no gain from voltmodding it.

@ViperJohn

U can tell me the reading points for Vdd and Vddq on the card i modded? It is a different layout. I messured on the first resistor and got about 2,049V, but don't know if it is Vdd or Vddq. :)

I found the reading points by myself. :)

1,59V with Stockcooler, but just 2.0ns Samsungs.. :(

Guess I can post pic of my modded X850XT PE...

Asus X850XT PE AGP
Used 2x20K 25 turn pots.
Used bridges (dont realy know what they are called) from my old IC7G (may it rest in peace, awesome card) for the VGPU VID adjustment.
Revoltec copper BGA coolers. (Realy bad quality sinks, but I took of the thermal tape and lapped them flat. Then glued them with Arctic Silver Addessive).
OCZ ramsinks (high quality sinks that are smaller then the revoltec counterpart. Used them under the waterblock tubing)
Made a block that fits between the GPU and Waterblock from a old Danger Den coldplate.(Had to, could not seat the waterblock. It touched the ramsinks)

So far I have only tweaked the VGPU, VDDQ and VDD pots at 20k.

3DMarkXX scores are low because of bad motheroard thats holding me back.(dont clock, cant run tight timings, basicaly sucks. =o( )

Had 7330 points in 3DMark05 with ic7G at fsb 275 MHz and graphx at 610/630 core/mem.

Yep, I did the vgpu mod on my R430 core, and got absolutely no higher with it, the temperatures just rose by about 8c :cry:
