how to overclock and how to use afterburner or sapphire trixx

Aye, the short of it.... start increasing clocks until it artifacts or crashes showing instability. At that point, either decrease clocks a bit, or begin increasing voltage. Rinse and repeat. I'd say more suggest adjusting core clock first, then memory, but I usually do them both at the same time: impatience. you can use gpu benchmarks for stability testing, unigine heaven or 3dmark11, and after bench stable, put in some game time

ya game stable is totally different than benchmark stable i noticed

I haven't used Trixx in over a year but I assume that's the core voltage which is what you want to bump, as that's how it's labeled in GPUz

ran Heaven 3.0 fine @850/1350 1.100v now gonna try 3Dmark11 then BF3

I'm guessing you should be able to hit ~900/1400 pretty easily, as most 6950s have that ability. I remember cadaveca's cards hitting around there without too much of a voltage bump, and my own 6950s (back in the day) got there with a low voltage jump, I'm guessing ~1.175-1.18v, if I recall....

Of course each card is different. My Gigabyte was a beast and my XFX was rather weak sauce. Since you have a better cooler, I'm looking forward to seeing what yours will do

Sounds about right. I'm running my almost 2-year old 6950 at 900/1440 with 1.175v.
