Why you should buy an A/C

    look at my pc specs, before i bought an A/C i could only overclock my hd7970 to 1050 and it would be 60C while folding, now i can fold at 1200MHz@54C with an A/C and it keeps my room cool and keeps the overall pc cool

    For long term use/exposure i here A/C are general not good for human health.

    hmm... my pcs without the a/c would make my room 100F even in the winter which is 38C.... so i can afford to use an A/C.. i run 2 pcs and my old monster is my heater

    ... why not just mod the cooling on the cards... would be cheaper.


    perhaps a nice Tec or water cooling or phase change...

    actually no.... because the a/c was only 109$ and it covers the full pc and me and the cooling i want for teh gpu cost 139$ by itself btw i have the Frigidaire 5,000BTU A/C has 130 good reviews

    Well you know tabloid news, no proof of A/C harming humans. It's just some hear say info on my end.

    and it costs how much to run? for that price it must be very inefficient.


    i cant see how it would harm anyone unless you keep the temps way too cold/hot witch may make you sick...... or not cleaning the filters witch may hold a lot of bacteria...

    its possible that its true, but im sure 38C averatge room temp is more harmful to humans than a constantly running A/C, even at night time my room was 32C

    i dont have an A/C and it gets 40 C easily in my room. comp running makes it 45C :cry:

    so in the summers i have to underclock and undervolt my system to keep it running, else BSOD BSOD BSOD

    ac bad for health my ass.

    yeah i got a bsod when i thought just cause ibought an a/c that my pc was capable of god like clocks... my pc froze when my hd7970 was at 1300MHz no bsod.. but instant bsod when i oced 3700k to 5.0GHz... instead ofo being worried i just laughed cause i knew that was stupid..., but my gpu bsod'ed every 4 hours at 1075MHz i found that 1050MHz was the sweet spot <-- with no A/C, now i can 24/7 stable fold at 1200MHz which is AmAzInG with a stock referance cooler

    If you are concerned about mounting a window unit in your windows, or have crank style windows like I do, you can consider a unit like this: SOLEUS AIR KY80 8,000 Cooling Capacity (BTU) Porta... (yeah, who knew newegg sold A/C units).

    They are sealed refrigeration units, so essentially no more harmful than your refrigerator in your kitchen.

    Also, if you are really cheap:



    It costs about $15 assuming you already have the fan and really works, I used to do it in my college dorm all the time(stupid college wouldn't give us A/C but gave us an ice machine;)). It cooled the dorm room down about 10┬░F, which does make a noticeable different in PC temps.

    2 people in their mid 20s died this summer. GOvt has advised ppl not to get out of their homes during 10am till 5pm!

    5000 BTUs barely cools my bedrooom let alone a computer. :mad:
    I also live in a brick house (oven).

    There's people that don't have AC? How can you sleep in that heat? The PC stuff is just a bonus. When the AC is on my 580 idles at 22c, air cooled though not stock.
