Had anybody luck in unlocking MSI RX850PRO-VTD256 or SAPPHIRE Atlantis X850Pro ?

I dont know other manufactures producing X850 Pro AGP cards except Asus, but they are too expensive.

This is the problem that some producers "produces" X850PRO VIVO AGP (they are native PRO cards which means 12 pipe core and 2.0ns memory).
Sapphire (has X850PRO but not VIVO AGP) and PoweColor (hasn't x850PRO AGP) probably other producers officialy don't have X850PRO VIVO AGP.
If the producer officially have X850PRO VIVO AGP probably it is unlockable (or I think so). ATI has X850PRO VIVO AGP (see: http://www.pricewatch.com/) but in fact it should be XT which haven't meet the XT requirements (it is produced to be XT with 16 pipe core and 1.6ns memory). If possible look for as older as possible X850PRO VIVO on the shelves.

About the Ribs fuses I can say that it is again unlockable card unfortunately. The results are similar to R420, (R423) with disconnected left bridge (config_substrate_fuses 0xFFFFFF9E) E should be F in order to have 16 pipes or you need to connect the left bridge. But (you will say) R480 hasn't laser cuts and you will be absolutely right it haven't (or at least on the front side).
That's the bitter truth.

I noticed another interesting thing: GB_PIPE_SELECT also can bring reliable informatiom. But only part of the meanings are clear for me now. There is difference deppending of the type of the core/bus of the cards.
The format could be 5 digit or 4 digit. It can also say whether we can have 16 pipes or not but more important is that it (I think so) can show whether is possible to have 12 pipes on R480 (R430).

I will try to put more light in understanding the meaning of fuse values on R480 (R430) which are similar and meanwhile different from R420 and R423.

It was interesting to understand why R480 looks unlockable for 12 pipes (the 16 pipe configuration is already clear: CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF;CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F) but in many cases it is not possible to have even 12 pipes.

I consider that GB_PIPE_SELECT can explain the possibility to have 12 pipes on R480. How?

I have carefully examined all the fuse data in the thread and can say the following:

The R480 fuse matrix of the "locked" core is always one and the same CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFYFFF; CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9Z

GB_PIPE_SELECT have mainly two meanings - 5 and 4 digits

4 digits configuration:
a) 2724 (with F's in CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF;CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F - means 16 pipes possible)
b) 3FE4 (the second position F is always equal with the 5th position from CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF) - combined with F's in CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF;CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F - also means 16 pipes possible

The above is not so interesting because 16 pipes are possible if F's are present in CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF;CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F.

Let see what we have on the other R480 which are locked for 16 pipes and it is not clear whether they can run even with 12 pipes.

5 digits configuration:
XXYSS (Y is always equal with the 5th position from CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFYFFF)

XX value is of interest here as follows:

a) If XX is an even number the core can have 12 pipes
b) If XX is an odd number the core can't have 12 pipes

R423 is another story because the chance to have 12 pipes on 8 pipe card is great by connecting the right bridge and flashing 12 pipe BIOS. (I won't comment these cores with F's in CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF;CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F) because they are with 16 pipes.

It is my explanation of the fuse data and it is possible to be totally wrong, that's why if somebody has better ideas please to share them with us :) .

This is Connect 3D

Are they only locked through the cut and i cant draw a connectuion ;) or are they locked in any other way ?

And how can i see how they are exactly locked ....

I have searched these connection places very long time but unfortunately they are on the botom (back) side of the core :shadedshu . To connect them you have to unsolder the core :eek: which I won't recommend you :D .

Meanwhile you should be situated in our sweet Europe I suppose? And most probably in Germany because so many Connect3D have to be in there. Am I right?

And of course the prices in that our Europe are far more "better" than in US :cool: . But don't even listen to me I am just dreaming.

All the time I have to order every single high-end video hardware from USA and to wait some friend of me to return and to bring me Canadian product, produced in China delivered to US and finaly delivered to Europe at 30-50% lower price than in my country :D . But this is the life and we have to enjoy it.

Dolf, can you tell us some more regarding the R420 core.
If I compare all the data what I see is:
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xXXX3XXXX = hardlocked pipelines
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xXXX7XXXX = no hardlock, number of piplines determined by CONFIG_ROM_FUSES (0=16P, 1=12P, 2=8P, 3=4P).

CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xXXXXXX1E = Lasercut leftside top core (12P) ?
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xXXXXXEXX = Lasercut rightside top core (8P) ?

GB_PIPE_SELECT seems to be completly determined by CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xXXXXYXXX.

5=29550
6=25650
7=277A4
9=19940
B=12B84
D=AD46
E=6E48
What that all means I don't know :confused:

Well i think i sell my old mb + cpu and get me an new one with Pci-X and then take a GTO 2 ;)

Thats the best soltuion hehe.

Any way to avoid doing this? LoL. I know that ATI made the program lie to all of us and say r423 when it's really a 480, but didn't all Powercolor boards come with the 480? I'm just trying to avoid removing the heatsink because I've never ripped apart a video card. <.<

Hi,

does anyone have an idea wether this card can be unlocked to 16 pipes? It uses radeon r430 core.

radeon_x800_vivo.JPG

@ Roberto72: do you have such information for r430? It's good to have it summarized like that.

Is this applicable to the R423 core?? cause that's what Atitool reports my x800pro non vivo as...i've connected the laser cut, the fuses data for my card is on page 21. I'm sorta confused, i know the data above isn't in any way final, I'm just curious how to apply what Atitool tells me about my card to unlock the 4 pipes.

Im sorry, but the BAD thing is that it is not possible to unlock pipes on R430 core. The 12 pipes R430 have all the same fuses data. Nobody was successful unlocking this. I have 12 pipes R430 too, but I still hope ;)

CONFIG_ROM_FUSES has no impact on pipes unlocking if they are not unlocked :D. You can easily change this value by flashing.

Good Morning :)
My first post in this Forum :toast:

I have a Sapphire X800 GTO AGP with 2 ns Ram, R423 Chip, OC: 570/600 stable (GPU and Ram Watercooled)

My ATI Tool says:

0xFFFFFFFF
0xFFFFFF9F

The Other Card:
Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO PCI-E with 2 ns Ram, R423 Chip (Sorry i was wrong), OC 540/580 (same Cooling)

ATI Tool:
0xFFFFFFFF
0xFFFFFF9F

I got 12 Pipes on both, is it possible to get more?
Will I have to flash a new Bios?
I have a problem then, because i don`t have any Floppydrives.... Can i use a CD-Rom to Flash a Bios ?
I don`t want to Overclock it permanently, i only want the 16 Pipes if possible ?

Sorry so many Questions :)

Thank you

And good morning to you too.

Somewhere in this forum there is a post about someone offering a complete
setup on CD-ROM for flashing; I just don't remember if it's for a GTO or a GTO2.

It shouldn,t be a problem; you could let Nero make a bootable CD with the flash tool
and some BIOS'es. But before that take a copy of the originals.

May I ask, where you bought these cards and what you paid? I'm about to order a
GTO card from Germany myself and would like to increase my chances of finding a
modable card. And maybe a model number or such.

Cheers

Hi,
I bought the AGP-Card at www.amazon.de for 199,-€ and the PCI-E Card ( Sapphire GTO light retail) at my local Dealer for 189,-€. My local Dealer got a Internetshop too, but i don`t know the price of the Card there: www.atelco.de .

Good Luck and thank you for your help :)

Cheers
Holger

EDIT:
I´ve just looked in the Internet Shop of Atelco and the Card is not listed there ?!?
I´ll call my Shop today and ask for it, okay ?

EDIT Numer 2: at Amazon they have the PCI-Express Card, too...

Here are the Links:
AGP- GTO
GTO2 for 229,-€ maybe the best Choice for you ;)
The GTO for PCI-E 209,-€
