Hi.
I just remembered having a link to the thread with the CD:

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=5796&highlight=connect3d+gto+mod

BTW, amazon.de won't ship to Denmark. And I would also rather do it on the cheap.
I can get an X800XT for not much more than the price of a GTO2(2400 Dkr. vs. 2000).
Then I can have a fast card without any risk. And also without any fun.
For me the fun is taking a cheap card and the mod/OC the hell out of it.
I enjoyed doing it with the AMD486, the Celeron 300A and the Radeon 9500 NonPro to 9700 PRO.

But I wouldn't want to get a GTO card, that couldn't be modded. So I try to be careful about which card to get. Connect3D, Powercolor or Sapphire, I think. But which?

Cheers
Erik

Thanks for the Link,
I´ve ordered a GTO2 just a few hours ago so this Link fits perfect for me :D
I Undertand your Problem, i love to mod, too....
Thats why i`m going for the GTO2, i hope for a good Ocler and then it will be Vmodded after the 16p Unlock :)

My other PCI-E Card Hangs up after a few hours of Stresstesting with X800XT PE Speeds :(
The AGP Card works very well even at Speeds above of the X850Xt PE, now i hope for the 16p mod :)

this is old fuses:

CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFF61D
after lasercut connect CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES was changed to 0xFFFFF61F
but i still have 8 pipes

On new one
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xEFF3EFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFF61D
after lasercut connect CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES was changed to 0xFFFFF61F

On core it was written x800GT(not SE or PRO) but i think this is r423. The same on both cards.

heres my fuses info...

I dont think its changed since i did the bios flash so its recognized as R480 though...

I took my HSF off and took a look at it to see if i was able to see the laser cut... I only managed to see 2 little square shaped laser cuts.. one in each corner and 2 circle shaped ones, also one in the oposite corners..it was kind of like this... (zero for square period for circle)

. 0

0 .

Anyways i was not able to find the five little clustered ones... maybe covered up already?

Heres mine. I have an x800 of uncertain origin. Packaging and board appears to be an MSI x800xl, came locked at a low clock rate, only 12 pipes, and according to dxdiag: with an x800gto bios. ATI Tool claims a 12 pixel pipeline and r430 core. Flashed to a msi x800xl bios from this website, and here are my fuses.

Catalyst Version 5.5+
Device ID 554D
Chip Type R430
Memory Size 256 MB
Memory Bus Width 256 bit
Active Pipelines 12
Default GPU Clock 400.00 Mhz
Default Mem Clock 490.00 Mhz
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES 0xA61
GB_PIPE_SELECT 0x2724

Can I get the 16 pipes? Its disappointing considering I am supposed to have them stock anyway.

Roberto72 I have no better explanation for the fuse numbers than my previous. It was mainly for R480 where the matrix is:
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES = 0xFFFFYFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES = 0xFFFFFF9Z

Where Y and Z are different fo different number of pipes. I believe that GB_PIPE_SELECT can tell us whether R480 can work with only 8 or 12 pipes (not 16).

Your post is also very interesting but I have no idea how exactly to interpret the results. Probably we (you and I) have something right and something wrong in the interpretation but that is the risk of the life-transmission ;). I will further continue to dig in R4XX serie ......

Then how do I get them. The video card came with an x800pro bios installed. I bought it off ebay supposedly retail (ya right). Flashed it to an x800xl bios, and only 12 pipelines still. Tried flashing 3 times. HELP!!!

I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip, we shall see...
16 pipes. Thanks for the flashmod suggestion. It displayed 12 after the last flash, then I reinstalled catalyst again and it said 16.
Problem solved. I can't thank you enough.

Dolf,
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES = 0xFFFFYFFF
If Y=1,2,4 or 8 => 1 pipeline block available
If Y=3,5,6,9,A or C => 2 pipeline blocks available
If Y=7,B,D or E => 3 pipeline blocks available
If Y=F => 4 pipeline blocks available

It also indicates which blocks are enabled. The value for my card is 9 => 1001.
If it would be 6 => 0110. How the pipes are selected I don't know.

Roberto, it sounds good and logical. How the pipes are selected - I have my explanation based on long research and measurements done with my X800XT (R420core). The "problem" is lack of power supplay within the core certain points. On the back side of R420 are 9 bridges which are the same like the 2 on the front side. On R480 (R430) all the bridges should be on the back side of the core. But the effect is one and the same.

Ok, a while back i ordered myself the connect3d gto.
Unfortunally the store sent me a 800XL instead because they were out of stock, i got upset and sent it back.. They got a new batch in and sent me one of these instead. Didn't feel to positive, new batch and all, odds of unlocking are slimmer.. Trying to make myself a bootable usb or cd, meanwhilst perhaps someone can enlighten me if my card can be modded or not?

Thx in advance!

(so to be clear, this is a connect3d x800gto) havn't seen these numbers before so any help is apprechiated. Can i do anything with this card?

R423
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xEFF37FFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFF71E

Im guessing this card isn't moddable.. But i was hoping to be proven wrong.

(Is this maybe a x800 pro vivo core? couldn't those be flashed somehow too?)

Well, a gto flashed up to XT is better than the XL, no?

But unfortunally i might not be able to flash my card up so then, yes, stupid.

BUT, im starting to think that this is a x800pro vivo core i've got here, so then i can unlock another 4 pipes too, cant i? anyone?

Do you see lasercut on your core? If not you will not get more pipes.

here's mine

It's an ATI X800 256Mb DDR3 Engineers Refernce Card
that came with 450/475 clocks and 20 memory, with 8 pipes,
but i've since flashed this with an XT bios , and atitools now says 500/500 with 16 pipes ..

Hmm nice one. Where did you get this treasure?
There is only one strange thing. CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES should be 0xFFFFFF9F not 0xFFFFFFFF. But its an engineering sample so everything is possible. I remember when I work at FIC we got some very interesting samples. It was always great fun to test it.
What type of X800 family should this be?

I got no idea m8 , when I first got this card , you had to force the drivers to load in windows , but once a flashed to a xt bios ( I had to use HIS X800 XT (AGP) 256 MB , as i couldn't find an ATI with 500/500 ) all was fine .

edit : I still got the orginal bios if anyone wants this ...

Yeah post the orig bios pls. I would love to see it :eek:
And btw you can edit bios core and mem clock using Rabit before you flash.

Yeah post the orig bios pls. I would love to see it :eek:
And btw you can edit bios core and mem clock using Rabit before you flash.
i tried that with rabit , but the orginal HIS X800 XT (AGP) 256 MB bios gave a better score in 3dmark , so i just stuck with that ..

here's the bios attached .... (looks like i had the clocks wrong , it was 475/499
