NVIDIA Releases DLSS 3.7.0 With Quality E Preset for Image Quality Improvements

Yesterday, NVIDIA released the latest version of its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 3.7.0. The newest version promises to improve image quality. Among the most notable additions is the now default "E" quality preset. This builds upon the previous DLSS versions but introduces noticeably sharper images, generally improved fine detail stability, reduced ghosting, and better temporal stability in general compared to DLSS 3.5. It has been tested with Cyberpunk 2077 in the YouTube video with the comparison between DLSS 3.5.10, DLSS 3.6.0, and the newest DLSS 3.7.0. Additionally, some Reddit users reported seeing a noticeable difference on Horizon Forbidden West at 1440p.

Generally, the DLSS 3.7.0 version can be a drop-in replacement to the older DLSS versions. Using DLSS Tweaks, or even manually, users can patch in the latest DLSS 3.7.0 DLL and force games that weren't shipped initially or updated to support the latest DLSS 3.7.0 DLL file. We have the latest DLL download up on our Downloads section on TechPowerUp, so users can install DLSSTweaks and grab the desired file version on our website.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Available Now With NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and Full Ray Tracing

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is now available on PC with full ray tracing, DLSS 3.5, and Ray Reconstruction. Phantom Liberty is a new spy-thriller adventure for Cyberpunk 2077. When the orbital shuttle of the President of the New United States of America is shot down over the deadliest district of Night City, there's only one person who can save her - you. Become V, a cyberpunk for hire, and dive deep into a tangled web of espionage and political intrigue, unraveling a story that connects the highest echelons of power with the brutal world of black-market mercenaries. Crank Ray Tracing Up To Overdrive
Both Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty feature full ray tracing in the technology preview for the Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode. Full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, accurately simulates light throughout an entire scene. It is used by visual effects artists to create film and TV graphics that are indistinguishable from reality, but until the arrival of GeForce RTX GPUs with RT Cores, and the AI-powered acceleration of NVIDIA DLSS, real-time video game full ray tracing was impossible because it is extremely GPU intensive.

Get DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction in Phantom Liberty Now without Path Tracing Thanks to a DLSS Hack

Hot on the heels of news that DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction can be made to work with DLAA (DLSS at native resolution) using a DLSS-modding utility, we're coming across yet another hack. This one gets you to use DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction on Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty without the need for Path Tracing, and using the game's regular ray tracing technology. Path tracing is very hardware intensive feature, and in our testing, we've only been able to get playable frame-rates at 4K Ultra HD using the two fastest GPUs in the market, the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. A user on Reddit discovered how to get Phantom Liberty to use regular ray tracing with Ray Reconstruction. We don't know who the original author of this hack is, but it was re-posted to Reddit by Daemoni73. Here are the steps:
  • Launch Cyberpunk 2077, enable Ray Tracing and DLSS Super Resolution (in other words apply your preferable settings).
  • Exit the game and go to your %LOCALAPPDATA%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077 and open the UserSettings.json file.
  • Search for "DLSS_D", set the "value" and "default_value" from "false" to "true".
  • Save the config file and set it as "read only".
  • Launch the game and play with Ray Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction.

Mod Enables DLAA + Ray Reconstruction on Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

When DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction debuted last week promising vastly improved ray traced visuals, we couldn't quite understand the need for DLSS 2 (super resolution) to be enabled for Ray Reconstruction to be available, and why you couldn't just render the game at native resolution using DLAA. The modding community waits for nothing, and overcome this restriction in no time. You can now enjoy "Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty" with DLAA paired with Ray Reconstruction. DLAA is a zero-upscaling mode of DLSS, wherein the game renders at native resolution, but with the advanced anti-aliasing and detailing provided by the DLSS upscaler—it is probably the most advanced AA algorithm out there.

The way to go about getting DLAA with Ray Reconstruction is to grab the latest version of DLSSTweaks (version: 0.200.7-beta4), which went live on September 22. The tool lets you modify DLSS behavior on a per-application basis, and this latest version lets you force DLAA to be enabled, even when you enable Ray Reconstruction, and the game's menu changes the available DLSS quality settings. What the "ForceDLAA" option in the tool does is modify the game's DLSS profiles to render at native resolution, essentially making them DLAA. DLSSTewaks can be found here.

Run AI on Your PC? NVIDIA GeForce Users Are Ahead of the Curve

Generative AI is no longer just for tech giants. With GeForce, it's already at your fingertips. Gone are the days when AI was the domain of sprawling data centers or elite researchers. For GeForce RTX users, AI is now running on your PC. It's personal, enhancing every keystroke, every frame and every moment. Gamers are already enjoying the benefits of AI in over 300 RTX games. Meanwhile, content creators have access to over 100 RTX creative and design apps, with AI enhancing everything from video and photo editing to asset generation. And for GeForce enthusiasts, it's just the beginning. RTX is the platform for today and the accelerator that will power the AI of tomorrow.

How Did AI and Gaming Converge?
NVIDIA pioneered the integration of AI and gaming with DLSS, a technique that uses AI to generate pixels in video games automatically and which has increased frame rates by up to 4x. And with the recent introduction of DLSS 3.5, NVIDIA has enhanced the visual quality in some of the world's top titles, setting a new standard for visually richer and more immersive gameplay. But NVIDIA's AI integration doesn't stop there. Tools like RTX Remix empower game modders to remaster classic content using high-quality textures and materials generated by AI.

NVIDIA Foresees Greater Reliance on AI Rendering Techniques in Games

Digital Foundry organized an AI Visuals Roundtable earlier this week, with Alex Battaglia (Video Producer) acting as host—the main topic being a recently visually upgraded version of Cyberpunk 2077. Guests included: Bryan Catanzaro (NVIDIA's Vice President Applied Deep Learning Research), Jakub Knapik (VP Art and Global Art Director at CD Projekt RED), Jacob Freeman (GeForce Marketing Evangelist) and Pedro Valadas (PCMR Founder). Team Green, naturally, advocates its newly released DLSS 3.5 and Ray Reconstruction technologies—brute force rendering techniques are considered passé, and no longer an ideal solution for upcoming GPU generations. Valadas was curious enough to ask whether NVIDIA had any plans to target reasonable performance levels—minus DLSS—at native resolutions.

Catanzaro focused on the benefits introduced in Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty: "I think that DLSS 3.5 actually makes Cyberpunk 2077 even more beautiful than native rendering...that's my belief. The reason being that the AI is able to make smarter decisions about how to render a scene...and I think that's going to continue to develop." He half jokingly states that rasterization is a "bag of fakeness." A combination of DLSS and path tracing is preferred over old hat methods—thus attaining the most realistic visual results. He summarizes with his own slogan: "Native rendering is fake frames." Catanzaro predicts that real-time graphics industries will become increasingly reliant on AI-processed image reconstruction and rendering technologies in the future. He hopes that AAA game environments will become cheaper to make in due time—with a shift to neural rendering. DLSS 10 could interface with game engine technology at a higher level, with a possible outcome being the creation of more "immersive and beautiful" experiences.

NVIDIA GeForce 537.42 WHQL Released with Support for DLSS 3.5 and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

NVIDIA today released the GeForce 537.42 WHQL Game Ready drivers. These introduce support for the new DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction technology, which will work on all GeForce RTX GPUs, including RTX 20-series "Turing," RTX 30-series "Ampere," and the latest RTX 40-series "Ada." Ray Reconstruction is a data-driven DNN-based ray tracing denoiser that produces superior results than hand-tuned legacy denoisers. In particular, ray traced elements such as shadows and reflections in games that use DLSS 2 (super resolution), should look more natural. The driver also comes with optimization for "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty," besides "Warhaven," "Witchfire," and "Party Animals." The drivers also fix a couple of performance issues with Octane Renderer.
