I would like to thank Alphacool for providing the review sample and ModMyMods for the PWM extension cables used in this review.

Well known as a custom watercooling supplier, Alphacool has now completely entrenched themselves in the all-in-one market not only with their own offerings but as an OEM. Their selection of customizable and upgradable all-in-one liquid coolers has continued to grow in recent years, and it's not just for the sake of having a product to sell. These coolers, alongside offerings from the likes of Swiftech and EKWB, have flipped the script on what a liquid cooler can be.

In today's review, I focus on the all new Eisbaer Xtreme. This fully encased 280 mm all-in-one liquid CPU cooler may not have any flashy RGB LEDs, but what it does offer is expandability, ultra-quiet be quiet! 140 mm fans, a VPP755 V3 pump with reservoir, and quick disconnect fittings for easy expansion. It's definitely a well thought out and exceptionally solid kit. But before I praise it any further, let's take a closer look at the specifications.

Packaging

Alphacool uses quite the large box for this gargantuan liquid cooler, with it measuring in at 52.7 cm long, 18.7 cm wide, and 20.1 cm tall. On top, we find the Eisbaer Extreme with a close-up of the Eisblock. To go with that is the Black Edition moniker (a core version that is just the radiator, pump, and reservoir is also available), which means this is a complete kit. Alphacool has also listed the supported CPU sockets here. On the bottom, users get a better look at the liquid cooling kit as a whole, but even then, it mostly fades into the black of the box. Moving on to the front, it has a shot of the Eisblock with, again, the list of supported CPU sockets and features.

The back has a picture of the radiator and the same list of features and supported CPU sockets. To finish things off, there are two black end panels with nothing to see on them.

Contents

Alphacool's Eisbaer Extreme is packed in foam, which is something I always like to see. Everything arrived safe and sound, and I can certainly say the use of foam gives the general packaging a bit more of a premium feel that better matches the cooler's MSRP.

Alphacool's mounting hardware supports every socket imaginable, including AMD's TR4. Alphacool also includes an Allen key with retail samples; however, my kit did not come with one. Even so, I only make note of it here—everything else users need is included.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 4x Radiator screws
  • 4x Radiator screw washers
  • 4x LGA115x standoffs
  • 4x LGA 2011 standoffs
  • 4x TR4 standoffs
  • 4x AMD standoffs
  • 4x Springs
  • 4x Mounting washers
  • 4x Mounting post nuts
  • 4x Rubber screw caps

  • 2x Intel mounting brackets
  • 2x AMD mounting brackets
  • 2x TR4 mounting brackets
  • 1x Tube of thermal paste
