Ideazon Fragmat Review

Introduction

I would like Ideazon for supplying the review sample.

To give you an idea about the company behind the brand, this is what their "About Us" segment contains:
It all began back in 1999 as Oren Kramer, an avid gamer, tried his hand - both hands, in fact - at mastering the tricky basic commands of StarCraft™, an extensive real-time strategy game. Oren was also an avid Quake™ player, an intense first person shooter game. Suddenly, the proverbial light came on and in a moment of inspiration Oren asked himself three questions he would soon pursue the answers to . . .

What if a gaming keyboard could be designed to let gamers execute complex maneuvers and a combination of movements with just a single easy keystroke?

Could such a keyboard eliminate the need to memorize key commands and free gamers for the first time to focus all of their attention on action, strategy and ultimate victory?

Would a keyboard dedicated to gaming action not make it easier and faster for gamers of all levels to master any game and maximize playing enjoyment?

So began the Ideazon revolution.
Today we get to take a look at the Ideazon Fragmat. The pads specifications are:
  • Excellent gliding surfaces
  • Non slip under-padding
  • Slim profile (1.8 mm thick)
  • Premium grad surface - engineered to optimize performance for both laser and optical mice
  • Surface Area: 11.81 x 9.44 inches (300 x 240 mm)
The mouse pad is available in four additional themes:

Closer Examination

The Ideazon Fragmat ships in a very simple, but sturdy package. It is made of plastic and completely clear. There are not labels or papers anywhere to be found. It can be hung up on a shelf and is sealed by a very sturdy sticker. Other manufacturers are trying to convey the key benefits of their products through text and images. Such information could be the deciding factor for potential buyers, who are not aware of all the possible features of such a device.

The pad itself has an imprint of the Ideazon logo with the address to their community website on the bottom. If you are not one, who wants to advertise a company across the entire pad, may choose one of the afore mentioned themes instead. The price is the same for all the pads.

The bottom of the Fragmat consists of a very fine rubber surface. It does not feature symmetrical or machinated grooves, but uses a rather rough surface to stay in place on your desktop.

Surface

The pad was tested with laser and optical mice. While some may still use an old fashion mouse ball, it will certainly not be in a gaming environment where mice and mouse pads have become an important asset. The following mice were used to test the Ideazon Fragmat mouse pad:
  • Logitech MX Revolution
  • Sharkoon Rush Laser Mouse
  • Logitech MX518
The Logitech MX Revolution is one of the most advanced mice out there, but is not necessarily considered a gaming mouse. The Sharkoon Rush Laser Mouse on the other hand is geared toward gamers and offers a variable DPI setting between 400 and 2000 DPI. The Logitech MX518 is one of the most successful optical gaming mice and is still commonly used today as the weapon of choice.

The surface of the Fragmat is very smooth, it has a very fine and not very prominent surface structure when compared to other pads. Nonetheless, it is not the fastest pad out there. It should give the user a good balance between speed and accuracy. None of the mice had any problems with the pad at all. The Fragmat is rather hard due to its plastic surface, which may our may not be something you look for in a pad.
