Introduction

SilentiumPC Logo

SilentiumPC was founded in Warsaw, Poland, in 2007, with their first product on the market being the Zephyr fan. They have since moved on from those humble beginnings to win Benchmark.pl's manufacturer of the year award in 2012. With a continued dedication to improving on and expanding their offerings of fans, CPU coolers, cases, and even power supplies, SilentiumPC has slowly grown with their dedication to quality and performance for the price leading the way. It really feels like it is only a matter of time before they expand beyond the confines of Europe. It doesn't hurt that they have accumulated many solid reviews here on TechPowerUp and from other publications as well.

In today's review, I will cover the SilentiumPC Grandis 2 XE1436. Much like its predecessor, this design is comprised of a large dual-tower, dual-fan configuration. Reminiscent of Noctua's NH-D14, it even follows through with the use of a single 140 mm and a 120 mm fan as a mismatched pair. In general, this overall design has been proven effective and efficient time and time again, which makes the Grandis 2 XE1436 following suit no surprise. In fact, it should be a contender in terms of raw performance for the price, at least on paper. Still, actual results are what matter, but before diving into that, let's take a closer look at this affordable heavyweight.

Packaging

SilentiumPC uses a relatively small box considering the size of the cooler. It measures in at roughly 16.5 cm in length, 14.7 cm in width, and 26.6 cm in height including the lip. On the front is a close-up of the 120 mm fan as an image of the heatsink wraps around the box. The SilentiumPC logo and product name are also visible here. Moving to the left side, you will find the cooler's specifications. On the back is a mention of its various features, such as the Sigma Pro fans and Pactum PT-2 thermal compound, among others.

On the right is the same image from the front as it wraps around the box. Meanwhile, the top again shows the company logo along with the phrase "Quality, Support, Price, Professionals."

Opening the box, users will notice that the cooler is located under the mounting hardware with the 120 mm fan in a separate Sigma Pro branded box. The heatsink and 140 mm fan are sealed in a plastic clamshell package.
