A Closer Look

Thermaltake's NiC C5 uses a traditional single-tower heatsink with five Ø6 mm heatpipes that extend up and through fifty-two aluminum fins.

Don't let the size of the heatsink fool you as it actually weighs in at 811 grams. By no means a heavyweight, the NiC C5 still has a nice bit of heft to it. Granted, the fans will be working a bit harder because of its small size.

The five Ø6 mm heatpipes are offset into one group of three and another group of two. The heatpipes extend through the base, but don't touch the CPU. Thermaltake's logo has been stamped into the top find and is visible on the bare heatsink. However, the logo will not be visible once the fan shrouds are in place.

The heatsink's base is out of nickle-plated copper and has a mirror-like finish to it. This little touch shows Thermaltake's attention to detail when it came to the tower's design.

The fans Thermaltake has provided have the model number TT-1225 and spin at 1000-2000 RPM via a variable resistor that both fans are hardwired to. PWM fans would definitely make more sense than these since you have to be mindful not to yank on the fans and their resistor too hard when you remove them.
