Thermaltake Spedo Advanced Package Review

Packaging

Thermaltake packs the Spedo in a fairly large, full color cardboard box. The front not only shows an image of the "Advance Package" - as Thermaltake calls the version with side window and fan - but the side of a Ford Mustang as it seems. The rear goes into great detail about the unique features of the Spedo chassis. Thermaltake has done a great job in explaining all of these quite well. The side of the package actually just lets you know, which version of the case is to be found within the box. This could be a bit misleading, as Thermaltake uses images of the more expensive "Advance Package" variant everywhere and then simply slaps a little green sticker on the side, meaning that the cheaper variant without the extras is also boxed in this exact same package. You also find an image of the rear lights of the Ford Mustang here as well. I honestly do not know, if Thermaltake has permission from Ford to use the car to promote and sell their product.

Thermaltake is one of the few firms that still use foam spacers and heavy duty bags on their high end cases. The blue bag clearly reads "Spedo Advance Package", so - if you have not looked at the package closely, now you know what version you bought.

Content

The set of contents is more than complete. You will not only find all the necessary screws and spacers, but an extra 120 mm fan, extension cables for both the ATX and P4 power cables, a slot adapter from 5.25 to 3.5 inch. Last, but not least, there are four plastic parts which were a mystery for me at first, but as it turns out these can be used to rotate the hard drive cages, to gain access to the drive bays from the outside. Sure a nice feature, but with a fatal flaw, as I will show you during assembly of the parts.
