Value and Conclusion

  • The cheapest price we find for the ADATA HM-650 in Europe's online shops was 65.60€ (exc. 19% VAT)
  • Good price/performance ratio
  • Handled full power with 52°C operating temperature
  • Tight voltage regulation at +12V
  • Very nice finish and paint job
  • At low-medium loads the fan is almost inaudible
  • LED lighting fan
  • Loose voltage regulation at 3.3V
  • At very low loads efficiency isn't so great
  • More SATA and peripheral connectors would be nice
CWT provided a solid platform and ADATA took advantage of it in every aspect. The finish of the PSU is of high quality since scratch resistant paint was used, the semi-modular cabling system offers enhanced usability, the ball bearing fan has increased lifespan and its LED lighting will be greatly appreciated by case modders (although there is no option to disable the lighting if needed). All capacitors are Japan-made and finally all above come at a really affordable price. What else to ask? Maybe a few more SATA/peripheral connectors and a tighter voltage regulation at the minor rails. Also I think that it would be great if ADATA provided two more PCIe cables/connectors, since there are four PCIe sockets on the modular panel, in order to feed two middle-end graphics cards with dual power inputs.

Bottom line, the ADATA HM-650 left me quite satisfied with its performance/features so I can easily recommend it to someone who wants a modular and reliable PSU with long warranty for a medium range system.
