Packaging

The packaging is pretty small and features a simple graphics design, clearly indicating that this unit belongs to the mainstream class, even though it's Platinum certified. On the front we find the "Platinum" word highlighted in big platinum colored fonts and on the bottom there are some numbers (and one symbol) describing the capacity, efficiency and the energy savings that this PSU achieves. On the rear side of the box we find a brief features description while the power specifications table is located on one of the two sides. Overall pretty simple packaging which reminds of lower cost and performance units.

Contents

To our surprise there was no packing material inside the box. The PSU was only protected by a mere nylon bag and no packing foam not even bubble wrap was used. Also in our sample, which was sealed, the list of accessories is restricted to only an AC power cord. No manual, no fixing bolts or anything else from the usual accessories was present. Apparently we received an early review sample which contained only the essentials. Antec informed us that the unit in its normal retail package is protected by two cardboard pieces and the bundle includes an information leaflet, a set of fixing bolts and some cable ties along with the AC power cord.

Exterior

The exterior is very simple too and doesn't feature ground breaking quality or design. As you can see from the photos above the unit is really small and all of its wires are fully sleeved. On the front classic honeycomb vents are used and the fan grill uses the same honeycomb vents, too. On the rear several badges are glued and the cable exit hole has a grommet around it to protect the wires. The power specifications label is installed on one of the two sides with the other one featuring Antec's logo in the bottom right corner. Finally the fan isn't located in the center of the unit but is closer to one of the sides. Rather strange position but most likely it provided better airflow to the internals at this position.
