8.5The Altair A380 is Glacialtech's first shot at a HTPC enclosure. Even though it is quite compact, you may still install a normal optical drive instead of a slimline one, so you have complete choice in the matter. The hard drive cage can take two drives, which should be sufficient for a HTPC. An integrated card reader is perfect for a media PC as well. Even with its compact size, there is still plenty of room to work with, but you may want to make sure that your optical drive is not too long or you may be in for a suprise. While such enclosures usually do include power supplies as well, it is good to see, that the A380 includes an 80 Plus certified 275W unit. The MCE remote control is intended for Vista but does not come with the new looks. It would have been a nice touch to include the official Vista remote. Speaking of things to be included: a riser card should have been part of the package. Glacialtech has managed to make a very promising entry into the HTPC case market with the Altair A380 and bodes well for their future media PC cases.
