IKONIK Vulcan 1200W PSU Review

Value and Conclusion

  • IKONIK is expecting a street price of about $325 for their Vulcan 1200W PSU.
  • Very stable 5V and 12V line
  • Modular design
  • High wattage
  • Cables are fully sleeved
  • High efficiency
  • Long cables
  • Lots of connectors
  • Switch to control LED lighting
  • Noisy
  • High price
IKONIK's first power supply that we tested leaves a good impression. The PSU can deliver in the important area of voltage stability and efficiency. IKONIK's choice to go with a modular design will be very welcomed by all users who like to have a clean cable routing. Only the fan noise is a bit loud. A 1200W power supply will run at a fraction of its peak power output most of the time. So I wonder why IKONIK did not implement a better fan control system for these situations. On the other hand if you need a 1200W PSU the rest of your PC will usually be louder than the average system anyway.
With a price of $325 the PSU sits right in the middle of the 1200W PSU price range. However, you can find similar rated power supplies online for below $200. Nevertheless, the IKONIK Vulcan 1200W is a good power supply - for those that really need that much power output. Everybody else should take a look at the Vulcan 850W and 650W which are based on the same design but come at a lower price point.
