Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge GPU Performance Review

Power Consumption

In order to test power consumption of our platforms we measured the wall power draw of the respective setup in several scenarios. Blu-ray was tested using Dark Knight with PowerDVD 10 with GPU acceleration active at 1920x1200. The HD 5450 was installed in our Sandy Bridge IGP test system and serves as an additional data point to illustrate the power consumption differences.

Idle power draw of the whole system is very reasonable with about 66 W, it seems power savings are working nicely because the same system with HD 5450 in idle consumes about 10 W more in idle. Blu-ray playback of all tested platforms is very close together, in my opinion this does not favour one platform over the other.
