Lian Li has gone ahead and added all their current mainstream features to the A04 and has kept the overall size comparable to the A05N, but there are a lot of differences. Dimensions are probably the only common attribute between the two enclosures. The A04 costs 10€ more out of the gate, comes with three fans instead of two, allows for a whooping seven hard drives installed and tosses in USB 3.0 connectivity as well. The one thing that makes the A05 really stand out is the ability to hold a full size ATX mainboard, while the A04 offers much more traditional mATX compatibility. This makes it a very well constructed and well equipped mATX case at a fairly high price point. But the A04 is a tough choice, as there are mid tower choices from Lian Li which cost just as much and offer more space, but the A04 should still score big with its compact dimensions and the ability to hold loads of hard drives. Micro ATX gaming motherboards are readily available, so the PC-A04 is a very interesting choice to build a high-end gaming rig or home server with a very compact footprint. If those are the top criteria, then the Lian Li PC-A04 will make an excellent impression and offers the perfect feature set, even justifying the mid tower price tag.
