To see if the Xporter Magnum lives up to its advertised 210x (31.5 MB/s) read speed rating, we have put this drive to the test using HD Tach and ATTO.

HD Tach shows an average read speed of 32.8 MB/s, with a burst speed of 35.1 MB/s. The speed rating that Patriot has assigned the Xporter Magnum is a conservative rating, as the drive performed over 1 MB/s faster than it was rated. This puts the Xporter Magnum within the top 5 fastest flash drives that we have tested. Also note that the other top contenders have a much smaller capacity, proving that Patriot stuffed the flash drive with some quality memory. CPU utilization and random access time are a bit high, but aren't deal breakers.






ATTO gives us a similar result for read speeds as HD Tach. It shows the Xporter Magnum’s write speeds maxing out around 23.7 MB/s, one of the fastest write speeds we have ever seen in a flash drive. The Xporter Magnum offers 64 GB of some very fast flash memory, and will be plenty fast enough to write files to the drive. At these write speeds, it could take under 45 minutes to fill the Xporter Magnum’s 64GB capacity.
