Value and Conclusion

  • This SteelPad SX sells for a whooping $59.95 at SteelSeries.
  • Excellent performance with most modern gaming grade mice
  • Comfortable to use compared to other hard mats on the market today
  • Optimum weight + Rubber base makes the pad stick to the desk like glue
  • Good looks
  • Perfect surface for most low to medium sensitivity gamers and some high sensitivity gamers
  • Natural rubber base
  • Immaculate finish
  • Subtle looks
  • High quality teflon skates included
  • High price
  • Cold
  • Easy to spot dirt on it
This mat performs really good under any given circumstances. Both when it comes to control, precision, and tracking. In other words the surface featured on the SX has a lot of excellent qualities. I think that the combination of a really fine grained surface with above average gliding performance makes it a really good mat for most gamers. The only thing that I dislike about it besides the high price is that it's quite cold to play on.
If you can muster a whooping $59.95 then you in for quite a ride. This mat not only looks and performs, but will also be good in a year or two because it's made of metal and not plastic like most hard mats on the market.
This is the first ever hard mouse mat I have had where the finish was perfect. I tried to find flaws on the surface, but there were none to find.
With this mat you get a great performer and a perfect surface that suits most gamers. If you can live with the high price you will find that this mat has a lot to offer besides looking good on your desk.
