Sunrise Charm3 & Dragon2 Ear buds Review

Value & Conclusion

Dragon 2

  • These ear buds sell for $120 online.
  • Extremely detailed sound
  • Good taught bass for a set of ear buds
  • Good price/performance ratio
  • Neutral sound signature
  • Light weight
  • Durable construction
  • Gives no isolation
  • Price
  • Requires a somewhat powerful device to sound their best
Sunrise once again proves that ear buds have potential for portable use. The Dragon 2s will require a decent DAP or dedicated amplifier to sound their best, but you get performance which is incredible considering the bulk and price of the solution once you do. The ear bud's shape is very comfortable and will fit most people; the several different types of foam covers allow you to tailor both sound and fit to your liking. The Dragon 2s are by no means bass monsters, but what they have sounds great. If you are into bass-heavy music, these ear buds are probably not for you. If you, on the other hand, listen to a variety of music that is midrange- and treble-focused, such as classical, jazz, and rock, these could be right up your alley. The midrange is incredibly detailed and captures fast-paced distortion guitar nicely, which is quite a feat.

At the current asking price of $120, these ear buds seem a bit overpriced considering that you can get in-ears that are close in terms of detail and have better bass for roughly the same price, but their form factor, ease of use, and spacious sound make them unique.

Charm3

  • These ear buds sell for $80 online.
  • Build quality
  • Easy to get good fit
  • Sound can be trimmed with different foam covers
  • Good price/performance ratio
  • Can be used with all types of DAPs and phones
  • Non-tangle cable!
  • Durable
  • No isolation
  • Could have more bass
The Charm3s are a brilliant set of ear buds for casual use, and the tangle-free, flat cable actually works well. These are close to perfect for a short commute where filtering out background noise is less than ideal. They are not exactly cheap at $80, but they do provide very good value if your needs are met. The sound quality is incredible considering their portability and soundstage. These are perfect for those who can't stand the in-your-head sound of mid-end in-ears. Its bass is still a bit underwhelming for most contemporary music, but that is, again, a preference thing.
