Value and Conclusion

  • The Thermaltake Mini Typhoon is going for about $25. Which sounds fair to me.
  • Wide compatibility
  • Easy to install
  • Cools other components as well
  • Cooling performance is ok for non-overclocked systems
  • Cooling performance may not be enough for highly overclocked systems
  • Various problems with mounting
7.7First of all, this cooler is nowhere near the Big Typhoon when it comes to cooling performance. I see it more as a midrange cooler which is ok for people who are not overclocking, or just a little. I found the installation very easy from a complexity standpoint, minor things could be improved though.
Hardcore users should definitely pass on this one and try the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. While the fan noise is not too loud it is still far from being whisper quiet.
The airflow of the Mini Typhoon is excellent, it is designed to cool other components around the CPU socket as well.
