PQI 16GB flash card


PQI has produced a 16GB flash disk with dimensions very similar to a credit card - 85 x 54 x 3mm. This "gadget" features a retractable USB 2.0 interface, backwards compatible with USB 1.0.

The price is unknown at the moment.

This is almost pointless. If you wanted to use it for backup, you might as well use a portable hard disk. It wouldnt be practical to hold huge files, because the transfer would be to slow to be practical when transfering files that big. The only use I can see for it is for a collection of pictures of MP3's that you want to access, but not transfer.

portable hard disk? you mean like... having IDE cables and power cables sticking out of ur comp for easy plug ins?

or portable hard disk as in, IDE hard disks with a USB enclosure...that plugs into usb?

which would be the same if not slower read/write speeds as the flash card.

I think it would be cool to be able to carry your 16gb of whatever with you in your wallet.

Being a very active digital camera user with a camera that takes 11mb pictures, I think it would be a fantastic investment for me. My 60gb ipod recently died, and ive turned that into a slim drive, so this is currently of no use to me right now, but maybe when the price dies down, I'll grab one or 2
