NEC Updates its Award-Winning Gaming and Lifestyle LCD Monitors

The new NEC MultiSync GX²Pro models offer considerable performance benefits over the extremely successful GX² series. The 17" NEC MultiSync 70GX²Pro, 19" NEC MultiSync 90GX²Pro, and widescreen 20" NEC MultiSync 20WGX²Pro, have been specifically designed for the discerning game player and design-conscious home user. Improved response times of 2 ms (grey-to-grey) and an optimised contrast ratio make these LCD displays ideally suited for all entertainment and video applications whilst offering excellent word-processing and spreadsheet capability. The 17" and 19" models offer 1280x1024 (SXGA) resolution while the 20" MultiSync 20WGX2Pro widescreen model offers 35% more visible image with a recommended resolution of 1680x1050 (WSXGA+).

The NEC MultiSync 70GX²Proand 90GX²Pro offer an optimised contrast ratio of 1000:1 giving a particularly high-quality and brilliant colour display. In addition, NEC's innovative OptiClear DVM (Dynamic Visual Mode) supports pin-sharp picture reproduction for all applications. Here, depending on the application, the user can choose between four different types of display - gaming, video, images, and business applications. A response time of 2 ms (grey-to-grey) in the 17- and 19-inch models brings optimal performance for even the most demanding gamer. A viewing angle of 176 degrees horizontally and vertically enables outstanding picture quality from every angle.

The widescreen display, with an aspect ratio of 16:10, of the NEC MultiSync 20WGX²Pro provides enhanced multimedia output and a larger visible application space. Gamers can enjoy more playing space and a more immersive experience whilst maintaining on-screen status bars and action buttons while home users can watch movies in the original widescreen format without black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Digital photography enthusiasts can view their images with all of the necessary editing controls, and home office workers can view two A4 pages or a larger number of spreadsheet columns without panning across. With an extraordinary brightness of 470 cdm-² and viewing angles of 178 degrees horizontally and vertically, the NEC MultiSync 20WGX²Pro performs well under any condition.

The new NEC MultiSync WGX²Pro displays include all of the proven features of the previous GX² series which received numerous awards and was a favourite amongst professional gamers. NEC's NaViSet software enables the monitor to be set up in an intuitive and user-friendly manner and NEC's NaViKeyTMfeature permits the user to navigate intuitively through the On Screen Menu. A Non Touch Auto Adjustment function (NTAA) automatically checks and continually optimises the displayed image.

The new NEC MultiSync 70GX²Pro, 90GX²Pro and 20WGX²Pro will fit easily into all home and workplace environments thanks to good aesthetic design and features such as an integrated USB 2.0 hub and cable management. VGA and DVI-D connectors guarantee the greatest possible flexibility with both analogue and digital image signals. An automatic Power-Off and Vacation Switch ensures a low and particularly effective power consumption, and ensures a low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). The new models comply with all current standards and certifications such as ISO 13406-2, CE, TÜV GS, TÜV ERGONOMIE and the TCO'03.

I heard NEC was going out of Biz and looking for a buyer? Having used a number of NEC multi-sync monitors over the years, the early ones were pretty good and in my experience the last 5 years or so were junk. Don't know what they changed but our multi-syncs failed under warranty and some just after the 1 year warranty. NEC U.S. provided zero help. So naturally we haven't bought any NEC monitors since. YMMV

NEC has built nothing but quality monitors over the years. Not sure what the other poster is talking about.

Eastcoasthandle... "The other poster" has probably seen and used more NEC montiors than most folks and he speaks from experience. Check out some hardware review sites which have also confirmed problems with NEC monitors in the past and you'll see that NEC has had their share of problems. If you chose to believe otherwise so be it. The facts don't lie.

I have only really looked at the NEC 20.1" widescreen that goes for about $700.
I have to say (not including the price factor), that every review I look at for this monitor is great and I haven't heard any complaints about it.
I am not saying you are wrong, but not every monitor is horrible.
You are generalizing too much.

Just b/c you had a bad experience does not mean that all of their monitors suck or are not any good.
Some of their monitors have had their share of problems, but I have had problems with Viewsonic, ACer and SOny and I do not discredit them b/c their monitors are faulty and their Customer Service sux.
All CS sux bc they are mostly outsourced.
It is just the way things are and on top of this there have not even been any reviews on these monitors.

There is my rant for the day.
