Adobe Pulls the Plug on Venezuela, Thousands of CC Users Cut off From Their Apps

With U.S. economic sanctions on Venezuela taking effect, Adobe discontinued its Creative Cloud (CC) subscription service in the country, stranding thousands of creators without their creative apps. Adobe switched to SaaS-only in several markets and the only legal way for creators to use popular Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Premier, Acrobat, Lightroom, and Illustrator, is through CC. Much like Steam, CC is a DRM platform that lets you subscribe to Adobe apps on monthly or annual payment plans, and provides you with the latest versions of the apps, with regular updates. You also get access to cloud-storage an asset library, and a social network of creators.

Adobe's exit from Venezuela isn't sudden, the company has given Venezuelan creators until October 28th to download any content stored on their accounts. From October 29th, Adobe's servers will longer respond to requests from Venezuela. This also means Creative Cloud apps will break. CC authenticates users by dialing home each time an app is launched. If a user is falling behind on subscription payments or if the app can't reach Adobe servers, they are usually given a 14-day grace period before the app stops working. Executive Order 13884 signed by President Trump strips Venezuela of all U.S. businesses, which would include payment processors such as Visa and MasterCard.

trog100so basically its an alternative supply of oil independent of the middle east.. expensive to refine but useful if middle eastern supplies dry up..

Uncle Sam wants control of it.. :)

Essentially. And the US then cries foul of how the people are after facing heavy sanctions.

But I will also say it was Venezuela's fault for not actively trying to diversify its economy and trying to invest in expansion of its agriculture and pharmaceuticals. If you are going to do things that Uncle Sam is not wanting you to do, then you should be prepared to become self reliant so that your own people dont suffer.

So far, many people in the world seem to be conveniently ignoring the protests and outrage going on in Ecuador. Moreno fled the capital to a military base because of the protests. But because he is supported by certain people and Ecuador isn't considered important, their peoples demands are ignored.

LionheartAnd you proved my point, more generic cheap compartmentalized labels & you assumed I was against your Trump statement... :wtf: I was more poking fun/trolling at your cheap "What are you smoking" insult cause it's so overused when someone has a different opinion, now you've stuck me in the NPC anti Trump category lol.
Nah boi, I was agreeing and laughing too. I find the anti Trump rhetoric to be hilarious, it's like watching monkeys at the zoo try to throw poop and then crying that it's on them.

sepheronxMine is from this year, and is actually at a random location rather than one cherry picked by a media group with an agenda.

The real threat is lack of medicine in the country.
Just because you say yours is not cherry picked that makes it so. Wow!

Here is a newer one. Do I win? That was one of your qualifiers, right? smh

yeah, I don't trust what the general American MSM says, so no. I went with what a real person posts, not an organization which has agenda's. Lets not fool ourselves to believe US government doesn't fund media organizations which they openly admit to it anyway.

I dont doubt there are poor people starving. But those are not the people who would be buying Adobe software in the first place. I mean, I can just post videos of homeless tent cities in the United States and state "America has way more pressing issues in housing and feeding their homeless or providing medical assistance to people instead of trying to stir trouble in other countries" but we know that wont solve anything nor really anything to do with this topic altogether.

JossThe sanctions, as always with economic sanctions, only affect the common citizen. The ruling elites, whoever and wherever, will always have means to shelter themselves.
On the other hand, those who believe Western governments are well intentioned when they economically choke foreign countries need to have their heads examined.
You think? Walk a mile in Putin's shoes ;) He's not the happiest camper atm. Or have a brief look at Iran lately.

Sanctioning isn't nice, but useless it most certainly is not. And its not about the individuals, but about the regime as a whole. Sure, the rich get away with it, but that was never the point, they always do. But they still do lose a lot of power and influence, which is the point.
trog100i follow this geo political stuff quite closely but still cant quite figure why the US government fells the need wage economic war on Venezuela.. what exactly is the significance of the place or it leaders relative to the US..

South-American socialist states tend to turn into highly corrupt and economical failures. Tropico ad infinitum, really. Not exactly the best neighbours to have. Its a push for capitalist values, goes back to 'fighting the Reds'. The US really doesn't like it and even today many Americans are keen to confuse sensible socialism (it cán be done right, look at Europe) with communism in its worst form.

Remember, Cuba turned into a Soviet launch site at some point, too.

And of course there is that. No illusions here...

in the good old days warfare took two main forms.. your ether attacked the castle or you besieged the castle..

oddly in modern times besieging the castle isnt seen as warfare.. it should be..
