HyperX Renews Sponsorship with Pokimane as Brand Ambassador

HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., today announced the re-signing of top female content creator Pokimane. Under the sponsorship, Pokimane will be using HyperX gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, and mouse pads exclusively in her streaming content and other marketing initiatives.

"It was an easy choice for me to renew my partnership with HyperX after another incredible year with them," said Pokimane, content creator, HyperX ambassador. "My Cloud Alpha S headset already goes with me everywhere and I can't wait to see what HyperX creates in the future!" Pokimane began her streaming career as a League of Legends streamer after diverting from a chemical engineering career path. She rapidly became one of the top female content creators with successful channels across multiple platforms. As a HyperX brand ambassador, Pokimane will continue to help deliver the HyperX gaming story to her growing audience of more than 28 million fans.
"HyperX is proud to partner with Pokimane for another year," said Khoi Nguyen, influencer marketing manager, HyperX. "As a strong supporter of diversity in gaming and a long-standing sponsor of Pokimane, we believe it's important to elevate the women in this industry. We are looking forward to this continued alliance with Pokimane and developing new content and activations with our gaming peripherals - inspiring all gamers to achieve their best."

From top-tier headsets with legendary comfort and amazing audio, to keyboards designed for digital domination and mice providing the ultimate precision and accuracy, HyperX has all the peripherals to provide the best gaming experience. As a top female streamer, Pokimane understands the value of having reliable and high-performance gaming gear, making her an ideal partner and member of the HyperX family.

I mean, thats easy and effortless marketing for HyperX, instead of leaving product to actual reviewer, where it can be bash, criticize and exposed for flaws, streamer just sit there say nothing and audience still got impression that product is good. Like a cult really, what a strange world we live in.
For me it's kind of the opposite, though: I've used HyperX RAM and SSDs for ages, but this is the first time I've ever heard of this female specimen.

Man, this really brings me back...

*the melodious chords of a harp echo in the background as my old living room comes into focus*

~ 1999 ~

Mom: "Zack, pick up your Pokimanes."

Me: "No."

*the harp returns as we slowly fade to black*

AusWolfAm I the only one here who finds the term "content creator" awfully awkward? By definition, it's anyone who puts sh** on youtube on a regular basis, though the term content creator implies that there is some kind of value (content?) involved, which is not always the case. If I record how I put my shoes on before going to work every single night and put it on youtube, I'm technically a content creator, even though the community value of my content is highly arguable at best. I guess it's just another 21st century bull**** fancy term for something of questionable use - sort of like companies introducing "people advisors" instead of HR admins, or "hygiene specialists" instead of cleaners or janitors.

Sorry for the philosophical mood.
I actually wrote a bucket trying to define content and break the term "content creators", but the term is so meaningless it is hard to focus on why it is just not a good reference of a person.
one can be a streamer and entertain through personality, just as would a comedian. But if one is referred to, or worse, calls oneself "content creator" would imply that he generates media that may not be of value, but must be deemed of value so he may profit. So having "content creator" as your only title would not be good looks. for example, a metal smith who has presence on youtube is a content creator of metalworking. where as jake paul... ...is a content creator through and through.

When you strip down the words and the world from stuff like 'strange', 'good/bad' it all makes perfect sense - cause and effect. That however brings even bigger questions but we'll keep it for another episode. :)

Back in 2020 I wanted to buy the HyperX Cloud Flight S but I wasn't able to make any online purchases due to COVID restrictions until that died off and I no longer desired that bulky mess that would have never looked nice on my head,
now I'm targeting the HyperX Cloud 2 Wireless but realizing that she's this brand's ambassador makes me abandon this pursuit,
can anybody suggest a decent budget headset? If anything I will buy the ROCCAT Elo 7.1 and call it a good choice.

To quote the classic: Who the fuck is Pokimane?
I wasted three minutes on looking her up. Seems she is a shitty person, but she likes showing her cute face and thinly covered breasts on the Internet so teenage boys watch her with drool on their keyboards so she's a good marketing vector for a corporation trying to sell products to this audience.

The real question should therefore be: How the fuck is this news?

Jesus y’all just really don’t like women... so much thirst in here based on accusations from a guy that was banned from the house where 8 (8!) women accused him of sexual harassment...

Probably now someone will report this post, and it will be moderated, while misinformed misogyny goes unchecked and people shit all over a young woman just because they think she’s attractive...

No?
The problem is how twitch has slowly turned into a softcore porn site and then gaming brands use these ladies for advertising, when they often have nothing to do with gaming anymore

That's one of the most twisted responses I've read in a while.
Just because pretty young women are used as marketing tools, you assume those against that, don't like women.
"Thirst" is the lusting after someone you find sexually attractive, perhaps you meant "pack mentality", yet neither apply.
"Misinformed misogyny" another nice term oft used to reinforce ones own argument without evidential substance, I thought feminism died out a while back, looks like we found a relic.
It's all about equality now.

What are you talking about lol? Feminism is seeing a resurgence across the globe... #metoo, Argentina, Chile, Ireland, India... the list goes on and on.

Again, have you read the thread? Here’s the very first post, followed by a bunch of other posts shitting on her for being a trash person or because she’s attractive.

I asked for an explanation as to why she’s a trash person, and all we have is a 25 page screed written by a guy who sexually harassed her and 7 other women...

If she’s trash because she’s attractive, well, that’s some real incel shit as far as I can tell. Why hold someone’s looks against them, ever, in any case?
FreedomEclipseOh great. So i guess Kingston hasnt heard how toxic she is irl. but i guess she has bobs and vejene so it doesnt matter.

Heres another company Im going to boycott for a year.
TotallyDo they not realize what kind of human trash that person is?
PanicLakeSo it is true! A person cannot spell it correctly until they have seen one in real life!

P.S. Knowing who see is and her "real life" personality, tells much about what kind of a person one is.
ixiHyperx will never earn money from me while she is there. Trash human is still trash.

Hyperx belongs to HP for some time now.
zlobbyMillions of simps moaned after they heard the news!

Yes, I'm waiting for her to follow Belle's steps and release an amateur video soon.

(can’t say I don’t agree with this last line, though)

Aside, I agree with you and mussels entirely that society objectifies and exploits women for their sexuality, but I don’t see how that explains the posts quoted above unless misogyny

Still, maybe I’m wrong and she actually is a trash person (she very well could be!). But I’ve read some articles about her, the org she was in etc, and all I can find is this document written by, again, a self-admitted serial sexual harasser...

You twist it once again to suit your agenda.
No one is forcing her to use her sexuality to gain followers, and again, you have yet to point out any misogyny in this thread.
I see people pointing out she is using her looks to gain a following.

The first post in this news article is someone claiming she's only getting a sponsorship because "she has bobs and vejene" while citing an article by a guy that was banned by YouTube and I believe Twitch multiple times for being an absolute scumbag. Then there's about a dozen posts by people claiming it must be because she's a woman or because she's attractive. Nevermind that she has hundreds of thousands of followers across multiple platforms, and works her ass off doing podcasts, streams, and various other forms of content. Must be because she's a woman.

That's what misogyny looks like. When you assume women only get ahead because they're women, and denigrate their accomplishments/achievements. If they had sponsored Generic_White_Man_Gamer_375, nobody would bat an eye. But they sponsor a young woman and suddenly people are outraged.

This may shock you, but she's an entertainer. There are thousands of streamers with millions of followers that are not the best players in their games--both men and women. Nobody ever uses that argument when talking about male streamers, funny enough. People watch streamers for a multitude of reasons, and skill isn't always the defining factor. I pop in to watch some top tier PoE streamers occasionally, but I also have a few that aren't top tier that I watch from time to time because they have good (and smaller) followings, and they play good music while talking about the game.

Heres another one for you

also about you calling that guy for lying. from my standpoint it sounds like he was being manipulated. Though the Fedmeister thing is just one peice of the first article i listed. She lied to try and get another streamer kicked out of their residence who she didnt like.

Your eyes seem to be focused on a weird place. If you want to talk about objectifying women maybe take a look at eastern European women being forced into sex work in Germany en masse (some reports claim more than a hundred thousand victims right now, and that's just Germany!). This and similar girls get corporate sugar daddies just for showing some skin. But sexual slavery in western countries is not such an attractive topic to research, innit?
Also, how is it objectifying? I spent almost fifteen years on the university, learning by day and working by night just to support myself on any reasonable level. I spent unreasonable amounts of money and time to improve my qualifications. A woman I grew up with has no education, no skills, no ambition above finding a rich guy. And yet she makes more than me, just for showing her body on the Internet. It's me who has to pay child support (in taxes) for women who just don't feel like working so they have a baby or two and live on government support.
If anything, exploitation goes both ways. Yes, some men treat women as sexual objects, but even more women treat men as mobile ATMs. I'd say humans are just a shitty species in general.
