Electronic Arts & Lucasfilm Games announce new Star Wars titles from Respawn Entertainment

Electronic Arts Inc. and Lucasfilm Games are joining forces to continue delivering all-new, world-class gaming experiences set within the beloved Star Wars galaxy. Respawn Entertainment, best known for their work on Apex Legends, Titanfall and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is leading the development and production of these new projects. Vince Zampella, Group GM and Founder of Respawn, will oversee this new phase of EA's relationship with Lucasfilm, building on Respawn's award-winning history in game development and expertise in telling compelling Star Wars stories.

Game Director Stig Asmussen and his team at the studio are already working on the next game in the action adventure Star Wars Jedi series, and are joined by two new teams working to deliver additional unique Star Wars gameplay experiences across multiple genres. Leading the development of Respawn's all-new Star Wars first-person shooter game is Peter Hirschmann, Game Director at Respawn, who has a long and accomplished history with the Star Wars franchise. The third title is a Star Wars strategy game developed through a production collaboration with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor, helmed by games industry veteran Greg Foerstch. Respawn will produce the new Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title.
"We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn," said Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games. "They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away."

"Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games," said Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Walt Disney Games. "Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy."

"Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell," said Peter Hirschmann, game director at Respawn. Peter previously worked as VP of development at LucasArts, and was executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games. Hirschmann and the team at Respawn have just begun work on the title.

Work has already begun on all three of these projects, and Respawn is looking for talent to join the teams. Additional information on available job openings can be found at Respawn Careers.

"We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we're thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years," said Zampella. "If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey."

sam_86314Electronic Farts is still on my do not buy list, and will probably forever be on it...

...unless they release their games on GOG.
Why would a release platform change your opinion on whether the company is any good? I don't like DRM and Origin / EA app is hot trash however EA is still a despicable company regardless.

Because the way GOG works wouldn't allow them to get away with all of the anticonsumer and GaaS bullshit they always pull.

The only EA and Ubisoft games worth buying, IMO, are the ones that are on GOG.

For a brief moment, part of me wanted a new Jedi Knight game. Then, I realized what recent revivals and remakes usually include and entail.
I'd be okay w/ Jan Ors being the main character, though just not a force sensitive. Oh, wait, that entire story and character set was removed from canon.

EA/Disney Star Wars announcements are just invitations to complain for every long-time and once- fan of the franchise; or of EA's long-past great games.

On a positive note: a vehicle-centric Star Wars game would be pretty great. Mech and Vehicle combat in the Star Wars setting could be fun. It hit me late that Respawn has a history with that.

It never ceases to amaze me how often companies make announcements that state much but actually say nothing at all.

EnkurI honestly want a solid sequel to Tie Fighter. I have too many memories with that game.
Squadrons was a decent game but too short I felt and not in depth (mission felt simplistic).
This.

Squadrons was more like... they made an awesome engine, but didnt have the time/funding to do more than basic 5v5 and a simple story

I need MORE.

All i need to be happy before i die, is a coop capable campaign (the entire, full campaign not a mini one like some games)

dirtyferretEA & Bioware have stated this year SWTOR has no plans of shut down and makes them money so you can hope just realize it's highly unlikey
Seriously, the graphics is so outdated, characters are too cartoonish and the mindless grinding is ridiculous. Time for those kind of MMOs to shut down and bring something more interesting to the market.

Can we have a non-souls like first person shooter, with no multiplayer crap. I don't want to just play with a lightsaber. Fallen order just didn't excite me at all. How long since Jedi Knight was released now?

Dirtyferret and Spectrum Cable are joining forces to continue delivering all-new, world-class internet experiences set within the beloved dirtyferret household. Spectrum Cable is the leading the provider of high speed internet access for work production, top tier entertainment, and intensive gaming. Dirtyferret has an award winning history of providing resources within his household, will oversee this effort.

Sounds so much better than just saying "I paid my f-ing cable bill because Spectrum has a monopoly in the area and is the only game in town"
