TV-Links Pirate Website Shut Down

One of the world's most-used pirate film websites TV-Links has been closed after providing links to illegal versions of major Hollywood hits and TV shows. The first closure of a major UK-based pirate site was also accompanied by raids and an arrest, the anti-piracy group Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) said today. A 26-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested on Thursday in connection with offences relating to the facilitation of copyright infringement on the internet, FACT said. Tvlinkz was a great site while it existed. it was awesome being able to click a fw linkz & have video ready to go instead of waiting for it to download via torrent or p2p.

I'm surprised he was arrested at all because he doesn't actually have the files he was only linking to where they were. So by linking to TVLinks wouldn't you technically also be liable with that logic?

did it ever occur to anybody that british cops really have nothing better to do? chances are the guy was arrested so it went into the record for their abysmal end of year stats rigging to show the public that they are doing their job by making arrests.

such cases like arresting a child who stole or threw a sausage at/from somebody.

they have nothing better to do then go after the things that arent at all relevant then go after the real criminals.

plenty of sites stream videos or music. whats the big deal? in which case a music fan who wants to make a fanpage for his favorite band on myspace could potentially get arrested for stream his favorite bands music.

I mean you have americans that sued McDonalds because some guy burnt his hand on a tea HE orderd: therefore all hot beverages must say WARNING: HOT LIQUID or VERY HOT (ETC)

society is really doing itself no favours....

i usually just use veoh. they have a app you can download that has many channels and other crap. i watch adult swin on there almost every day. and in my case i am usually on my lappy while doing it, so they created a kick ass way to dl the vids. if you have it running on your home computer and you go to www.veoh.com from your laptop, school pc, work ect you can choose to download via "home delivery" which will send the vid to your veoh program on your home comp and automatically download it. i like it alot as i use my lappy on my breaks at work and stuff.
