I wouldn't get one if you are planning on using it on an ATi card. The pipes don't make full contact with the core.

check the reviews first. The prob with the scythe (and others like it) is the orientation of the fins. Not the best for cooling.
Take a look at the ones in my pict, notice the fins run from front to back, thats the best for cooling the cards.

But don't the Xig have a lot of air blocked from hitting the card ?. As most of it is blocked unlike the AC or scythe ones.

As for reviews i'm yet to see them both in the same review. What would be nice is to put bigger fans on the scythe one like the xig has.

the best way is how I cool them, no fans mounted on the coolers and a 120mm fan blowing along their axis and out the back.

Its extremely quiet, effecient and directs the heat out the case instead of swirling it around (and thus adding the GPUs heat to the inside of your case)

Here is my 9600GTs in the Rosewill case

I have a 120mm fan in front cooling the Hdds and GPUs (my 9600s run in the 20-30C range)

With using filters on mine i think this would fail for me even more so in summer when it hits the 30-35c weather.

My 92mm x 38mm and 120mm x 38mm pana fans move that hot air real well. Which reminds me i need to replace the fans in the front of mine but thinking of the extra fan noise lol. You are right and i see what you mean i just think the idea would fail in the temps we have and we don't use a air conditioner either.

Shame i cannot afford both as i would try both and find out for sure. As it does really sound look worth trying as i can easy move the hdd's without issue with me using the TT Armor.

Just curious how much you asking for one ?.

I bought a battleaxe for my 4850 and the heat pipes block the ram-sinks for two memory modules. not sure if that would make a big difference in cooling or not..but leaving ram without any heatsink on it made me too nervous to leave the cooler on.

that said, I have a xigmatek battleaxe laying around the house if you are dead set on it.

I noticed the passive coolers are perfect for the 9600gt, the 9800GT/GTX is about 7C warmer. I think the 4870 would be warmer still.. If I was gonna cool a 4870 I would get the Accelero 1

Its amazing what kick ass cards are available for under $200.

Well if it gets to hot i'll just put better fans on it lol. Which i will not know till i get it. IF the Scythe MUSASHI fails i'll try pick up a Accelero 1 when i can. Kinda in the middle of another project too for PSU cooling.

And yeah 1GB card for under $200 i'm so glad i waited as it would of been a 512MB card for $300 ish.
