ATI Radeon 9550 Overclocking and BIOS modding FAQ Guide

thanks guys, i will try it!

Guys I have a Gecube 9550SE 128mb 64 bit, i've use ATI tool and it says that the core is R360, is that a good thing or a bad thing?, if its good how can i make the most of it in terms of OC'ing the card. BTW the card has like 325 core and 200 memory, and they DO NOT HAVE FAN, only heatsinks can somebody help me OC this card?

just let ATITOOL find maximum core and mem clock !

No fan necessary for oc - my core is running @445 with no fan at all.

Your 64.Bit ram interface will limits your performance a lot...

your core running at 445 w/o a fan?, my card is extremely hot, after playing Fable and Black and White 2 for 2 hours:banghead: . is it "safe" to increase the core? what about the memory can i go higher than 200?
btw what's this card (9550se) score in 3dmark 2000 or 2001, i've tried in 3dmark2000 this card only scored like 2800, is that normal or is it because my proc, i'm running on Intel celeron 850@934Mhz:confused:

for your referrence, i found that the tuned in memory timing will give high bus speed.
in 3d mark 2003,my card score 29xx without oc
after oc, it give me 36xx.by the way, be careful of your gpu coz 9550 dont had a thermal sensor.majority said 9550 s not so hot...

36XX in 3dmark 03 your 9550 must be the 128bit version, mine only 64bit, any way can you explain the details in tuning memory timings:banghead:, as for te heat in my 9550se could it be that i inceased the system bus 10Mhz more which also increased the PCI bus into 36 mhz
you see i running ths card on an old platform (CUV4X-C, 384mb ram133, celeron 850@934, with system and pci bus 110/36) is that matter?

i also follow the guide to reach this high speed on ram
follow this link

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=239273

be careful,i only follow the memory tuning only,NOT the voltmod.
hope this can help u.
this is quite dangerous for bios flushing(if u dont know how to flush and the risk).
if u r a beginner, simply use "ati tool" and set the memory timing by the ati tool.
use ati tool to find the max of your core and memory then minus 10mhz from the max as your stable frequency.

Thanksfor the link mikechinym:toast: i'll be sure to try it, hope it works:rockout:

RADEON R9550 128MB DDR (OC) Edition, Gecube.

Card Details: http://www.gecube.com/products-detail.php?prod_cat=34&prod_id=21234

Overclocked with Artifacts = 450++ core / 250 mem.
Current Over Clocked Settings = 425.25 core / 225 mem

3D details = 50 - 63fps (constantly changing and jumping around), 57AVG (this stays constant after waiting for about 5mins). I don't know what they stand for plz advice guys?

Driver Details, = 6.14.0010.6631 (latest)
Tool use = ATITool ver. 0.25 Beta 15 (latest) , Card has also been unlocked with it.
Cooling system = Own stock graphic card fan. ( Am i able to increase the fan speeD? )

I need some pointers with my currect work and i have some questions cause this is my first time doing OC.. A total newbie in this. So any pointers and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well guys, These is what i've manage to pull thru so far, I'm not really sure if what i've done is gre8, but i've yet to test it during gameplay.

My Qs are , Do i need to let ATITool run when ever i'm about to play a 3d game or can i just uninstall it once i'm done OCing my card?

& Are these the norm OC settings for this particular card or Can it go higher?
And am i able to increase my current stock graphic card fan speed? Is it advisable to do so?

Any help at all guys, Thanks in advance!

hello 2 u all can some1 help me i have a sapphire 9550 and i would like 2 flash it 2 9600pro
my Sapphire.9550.256.Hynix50_050111 can some 1 tell me what bios i can use that will work

Hi everyone, I need your help. Please, can someone with Asus 9550GE 128MB 128bit might help me uploading somewhere the original bios for this videocard cause I got it from a friend but it's with some Sapphire bios and the temperature sensors doesn't work now. Thanks in advance :)

P.S. You can mail the bios at livin_in_si@lycos.com

ATI Tool saves your overclocking profile, so uninstalling would remove your overclock

by the way guys... i have a RADEON 9550 Sapphire, 256MB 128bit, but it doesnt have a fan cooler... i got it for $70 (US) how do i remove the heatsink from it??? the clips seem impossible to remove. I live in australia and i dont know where to get the stuff from.

Is the Sapphire 9550 good enough for flashing? Also, what sort of ram heatsinks/fans should i get? As the card doesnt have its own fan power supply.

EDIT: it is the POST agp version, as in a re-release

FINALLY!!! :D I swapped for a Infineon RAM 9550... so how much do you guys get up to in terms of speeds? Ive got up to 460/256 WITHOUT artifacts, i installed an 80mm fan fan to blow cool air onto the passive cooler, sticking it on with double sided foam (preventing heat from going onto the fan's bearing, as it would case heat damage), then locking it on firmly with two screws carefully. Also got ramsinks.

How much harder should i push it?

darn, ive just got to ask it:
why do people still HAVE 9550 cards?
it would cost not too much (i assume people can spare £50/$100) for a decent card that would be double or triple the speed of the 9550.

SHUT THE HELL UP, PEOPLE ARE ASKING QUESTIONS... you think we have that money?

You're just asking for a ban mate...understand that, there are people out there who still have PENTIUM 2s as their main RIG!!!

Gigabyte 9550 before voltmod 480/270, with vmods it now works at 630/290 :rockout: @ 1.6v on core (dont go as high for daily use. Go to 1.4-1.5 volts max :D ). To bad that I kinda F-ed it up before and am geting mad artifacts even on stock speeds (as seen on the this picture ).

About flashing the Gigabyte: I don't have any idea what I did that alowed me to flash, but after the first flash I haven't had any problems with flashing. Oh, and I use ATI winflash with a Gigabyte 9600 pro bios (beter score when benchmarking, becouse of the ram timings. I have tried to mod the original 9550 bios with the 9600 timings and gets the same benchmark resaults as the 9600 pro bios).

Teach me how to voltmod my Sapphire Radeon 9550 256mb... will an 80mm fan on the stock passive heatsink be enough?

whoa, sorry mate, no offence meant. actually i think overclocking and volt-modding is cool with any hardware.
its just i made an assumption that was wrong.

The 9550 card isn't really a bad performer TBH. It can still play just about every new game (albeit on lower settings) once taken to 9600 speeds. Admittedly a P2 can't, but a 9550 will give you all you need for a very low price. I had a 9550 until a few months back.

LOL... what does 90 fps on CS:S on high settings say to you?

I put a plastic plate over the ramsinks on the side facing the CPU, doing that the cpu's Exaust was deflected away from the GPU, now i can achieve 500mhz/560mhz (280mhzx2) without aftifacts... what if i flash it?

Ive installed so much cooling onto it, who wants screenies?
