So in the few months..I've sold my two comp's and part's and am now running off a laptop..here is my new build.

One thought first is should I wait for the new ATI cards?

Agreed. HD4890 should drop pretty fast after the HD5XXX Series launch. I would wait...

Otherwise good selections...though I would grab some DDR3 1600 or higher just for fun.

yeah buying a 4890 right now pretty much guarantees that you will be angry in a month or so when the 5850 costs less and is DX11 and is about 50-100% faster.

I honestly don't know. The only thing we have to compare new cards to is a bunch of paper specs, marketing, and the performance increases of the previous launches.

sub $100 is a tough segment to predict. Obviously at some point there will be a 5XXX series card that beats a 4850, but IDK if it will be at launch or a few months down the road.

As far as the rest of the components - they look really good. :toast:

I think dark2099's still got 2 of my old G.Skill DDR3 sticks and 2 of his own for a total of 4GB if you're interested in getting them cheaper than retail.

imo you should get a 955 instead of a 965. the price difference is big and u can oc the difference in a few minutes.

to be honest... i bought my 4890 when they first came out for well over £200... infact I think it was about £225 or so... anyways now you can get one for £139.99 so i reckon thats low enough if thats what youre aiming for.... they not gonna go much cheaper...
but if you want a 5XXX series card then go ahead and wait

If you need to buy it soon, get a 4350 until the 5800's come out. Or just wait, I'm sure the CPU prices and stuff will be cheaper by the time they're out anyway.

What about the MSI 790FX GD-70 instead of the Crosshair III. Cheaper and a few more features which I'd prefer over the Crosshair III.

tHE PRICES FOR THE 4800'S WILL stop going down in about 2 weeks then they will go back up after the release of the 5000's series and stay high for a month until the release prices of the 5000's series come down to normal, you know so your more tempted to but a 5000 over a 4000
