When Sony showed off it's next generation console at the Tokyo Game Show, it didn't exactly perform according to plan. The PS3's occasionally locked, and required a reboot to play properly again. Most people are claiming the PS3 is overheating, though Sony denies all claims. In response to this, Sony's stock fell 2.5%. However, in Sony's defense, the Tokyo Game Show was a sweltering A/C free convention, all PS3's were encased, and so far every next generation console has freezing problems, though some not in such extreme heat.

PS3, hmm... this is bad. Sony is so stupid... watercooling...

that'd be tight

LOL, this will soon be Japanese launch ps3's crashing followed by US launch ps3's crashing. By the time they get released in Europe they should have the problems fixed, That what happeneds when you use hot running ibm chips inside a compact case with a zero profit margin

I'm confident that by the time the PS3's price is low enough for us to buy, they will have worked out the problems.. maybe in 2010.

...and people will run to the stores with fists full of dollars to buy these questionable products just as they did with the Xbox 360 that are now being "repaired" for defects and overheating problems that were exposed on the very first sales. In fact another lawsuit was reported today against MS for a house that burned down as a result of an overheating Xbox. When will people learn?

Dude, ur crazy. If one person's house burned down because of a console, that dosent mean that the other 99.999% of the population's houses have burned down or that they will.
And why do u think the consoles are questionable? Its nice for a change to have someone bad mouthing consoles over something that isnt graphics performance, but even if a console does overheat, is that a reason not to buy it?

And what im saying is that when they will all be fixed, and their priced lowered, then will be the time to buy. I'm going to buy the slim version of the PS3 in 2010, can u believe all that horsepower stuffed into a box smaller then a laptop? Well, niether could the folks back in 2000.

I can't remember a console that didn't have overheating issues in the first gen release or in pre-release.

At least there is some factors that contribute to these, the consoles at the Tokyo game show pretty much are in the worst conditions for heat possible. Unlike the Xbox360, which overheats in 20C rooms.

Maybe Koolance will make a watercooling kit for the PS3 like they did with the 360.

Speaking of watercooling kits, do the ones for Xbox 360 void the warranty?

game cube never had heating problems although the joypad sucked

Now cocsoles are getting heating problems? lol

you know it figures, im surprised that they all didnt spontaneously combust after thousands of people just even got a glance of them!!!!!!:D

Doubt the Wii will have overheating problems, isn't fast enough!

Hot, noisy & unstable, they are like cheap PC:s xD Atleast we can change a cooler. Still, might just buy one when PS3 is released, the PS2 one :P (and that only if it's price drops alot)

I made a huge mistake when I bought my 360. It was freezing randomly from day one, so I sent it in for repairs. When I got it back, it worked for two minutes before it overheated and gave me flashing red lights. Fun. So I demanded my money back.

What I'm saying is that I won't buy PS3 until I know these problems are out of the way. I'm fairly confident the Wii will not have this kind of problem, though.

Youd think that they would use better cooling...

Oxymoron of the week:

Overheating = Freezing

Alternatively, for the cook that boils their eggs until soft... If your console keeps feezing, try putting it on a heater.

TBH I would have thought they would test it in normal conditions before showing it to the public, so i expect it is mostly linked to the heat at the show.

yeah, i doubt they would have taken it to show if it had problems that bad

The PS3 will be a 2 in one device.
1: Gaming console.
2: A BBQ that puts Weber to shame in terms of heating capability :)

yay i need a new BBQ :D

Get a prescott it's cheaper...

Now cocsoles are getting heating problems? lol

I can remember when people were saying consoles were better than computers because computers overheat!

Now consoles are suffering from the same problems are personal computers. I think i'll stick with my PC thanks!
