The list I have is as follows, can someone pleass sort it up and add some new ones? I dont know how the Ati ones correlate to the Nvidia ones

Nvidia:
210M
230M
130M
240M
150M
160M
250M
260M
280M

ATI:
4330
4530
4570
4650
4670
4870
4830
4850

Intel:
Dont bother, they will come last anyway

Thanks

you forgot ATI Mobility Radeon 4870 and 4870 X2
and both 260M and 280M is based on G92 as in NOT the same as desktop, so basicly ATI has the fastest GPUs on the mobile market

hahaha ATI is winning in the mobile market, didnt know that, SWEET!

i would love to have a laptop with GeForce GTX 280M SLI :(

my laptop has a ATI X800 lol

Yep Nvidia sank their boat with the laptop gpu manufacturing mishaps.

am i supposed to tell you how they corrolate? or just what im using? is it ok to do one or the other? 200m

i take it this if for discrete cards only? if you include integraded you have

ati
xpress 200 (based on x300)
radeon X1250 (based on x1300)
radeon HD 3200 (based on HD3400)
radeon HD 4200 (based on HD 4350)

nvidia

8200 (based on 8400gs)
9400 (8200 with double the shaders)

nice seems a mobility ati 5870 will be avaible in January

lol probably later on but the mobility 5870 has a tdp of 60watts no idea on the other specs tho but if desktop performance is anything to go by then a gaming laptop might be doable now haha

With a tdp of 60w, any laptop with 5870 is actually a desktop in disguise

You'll probably even need it to be plugged to the wall all the time

Hey now, even my HP lappy (with some integrated Nvidia chipset that I couldnt even tell you what it is) needs its plug, otherwise its 30 mins on the battery. It's not just laptops with awesome discrete GPUs :D

I wonder when we'll see laptops with a good, i mean good battery life. Till then i'll stay away from em. I gotta admit they are cute and tempting though!

actually, ati does not dominate the mobile industry. they are cheap solutions to nvidia cards, yes, but in game performance, nvidia performs better, especially in newer games. a desktop ati 4890 has to turn off physics for mirror's edge to run smoothly at 1680X1050, or the fps drops to an unplayable number. My gtx280m however, runs fine at native resolution (1920X1200), and at the same settings as the desktop, except with physics. without a physics processor, you will get no performance on newer games with physics on.

That's the thing, there are some out there (netbooks mainly) that do long battery life. But that comes at the expense of no GPU performance whatsoever. There just isnt anything that can do both

lol maskedpaladin no one cares about PhysX from nvidia DX11 effectively kills the need for PhysX and most of the time the effects of physx arent worth it look at cryostasis even with a beefy gpu physx will still make the game crawl. my point being fancy waving flags and tearing cloth is cool but its secondary you turn off the physx and run the games side by side and both nvidia and ati gpus will perform closely. And besides the fact that your 280m is a rebranded g92 means your 280m is closer to a 9800gt-gtx and sorry 26-35fps isnt acceptable and thats with a desktop gtx280 at 1600x1200 with physX when nvidias proprietary system is used to its fullest even nvidia cant hope to make a game truly playable. most ppl here will tell you PhysX is only good for the epeen bonus in 3dmark. besides 5xxx series mobile parts will offer DX11 to laptops before nvidia even releases an answer to the 5xxx series desktop parts :toast: in a strictly performance view without extra bells and whistles in the laptop market its neck an neck in the desktop market ati as the edge

and i have to agree with assaulter_99 why buy a laptop for $5000 that gets 20mins battery life and still runs your games like crap when u dont have it plugged in  u might as well just buy a desktop for 1/2 the price or build one for a 1/5th of the price

back on topic

4870x2 and gtx280m in crossfire / sli is a potent combination but are also ridiculous when u think about it

intresting but those results dont mean squat since none of those gpus are tested with the same cpu ram etc u pair a gtx280m with a 1.9ghz dualcore and compare it to a 2.8ghz dualcore the perfromance delta is far different  comparing scores that way is useless as in order to truly test what setup is faster u would need machines with matching hardware except for gpus which isnt going to happen lol

example in that list u linked look at the ati 4850 by it self can almost equal 2 gtx280m in sli in some games and it outperforms a 4870 mobile part which shouldnt happen but will happen since if its paired with a weak cpu the card will be held back

and considering in that database a single 4850 is on par with a gtx280m in a 1gpu to 1gpu comparison.

ill call shenanigans on there testing its a good zero point of reference but it dosent prove or disprove anything
