More/harder puzzles (remember Lufia?)
More (actually funny) comedy/references
Get on a personal level with the developers (this one's kinda hard to explain, think Valve)
Less shovelware
Games that are designed for their platform (AKA not a port)
Higher maximum settings (future-proofing)
The abandonment of useless/confusing/WTF were you thinking/in the way/retarded features
Higher quality audio and audio effects
Better music
Hire actual architects and whatnot when designing a building
Tackling people (an FPS/Adventure/RPG game is a good example of when this is needed)
Less cookie-cutter games (I'm looking at you, FPS games)
"Gamble games", like nobody's done it before so they don't know whether it'll make money or bust

Technical stuff:
OpenGL
LINUX
Procedurally generated textures
Programmers that take a UNIX-like philosophy to their code
Ambiophonics support
Better multiprocessor support
Thread/job pool optimization

Oh, oh. I want real boxes and thick manuals.

Crysis? Crysis is a fancy corridor shooter, nothing more.

Not true, you can avoid missions for as long as u want in SP and go destroy s***. But I see where u are coming from... If you do decide to avoid missions there's nothing to do outside of it except drive cars off cliffs and clear entire areas of trees (I srsly did that once)

If you are going to go for immature story telling, at least do us all a favour and dont try to make out like it is serious. Goofy stroy telling can also be quite good so long as it aint pretending to be something that it isn't. Good examples were, BFC2, Risen, Crysis.

Another good example of this would be Starship Troopers (the movie).

1- I love the old skool games like HL2, Quake4.
not to mention others that have lot of hours for single player campaign.
Dead Space2 fullfilled my spectations and more...

But what i really want in games is adventure, and I dont refer to a raw RPg, just the way to enjoy a game at its full. Emotion, extasis, action, great graphics, nature.
Far Cry2 did some of this but it didnt reach the top of it in my opinion.
Monster Hunter 3(tri) for Psp is an example of this but is a shame that capcom didnt made a pc version.
For Multiplayer i just wanna more LAN offline options, not steam or EA servers.

And 1 and 3rd Person shooter keep coming......:D

Benchmark Scores I don't benchmark.
New systems for game interaction...see Magicka

The ability to add-on and customize the game the why I want without fear of being sued....see Oblivion

Realistic physical interaction with the enviroment. Example, I have to cut a door with a knife to completely destroy it in BFBC2. Why can't I click the knife button, but the character just open the door like a sane person. Also why do small trees, signs, and other stuff have no weight once they are destroyed? So I can't break a box by shooting it with bullets, but I can kick a tree around like a soccer ball?? WTF?

I have no grips about plots as they have been fairly good on average and their are some truly exceptional ones....I am not talking about Mass Effect.

I completely agree with need more emotional involvement with the characters...see Dragon Age as stated.

And I personally would like to see a few companies take the risk of being a little different more often.....see Heavy Rain and Alan Wake (though they disappointed me with promises not being kept)

More atmosphere in horror games and less "boo" moments....see Silent Hill 2, Bioshock, the Hunter in Dead Space 1.

And even though I don't like MMO's, minigames that are actually fun in MMO's. Instead of the stupid fly around like a duff challenges in DCUO, how about the ability to play poker with people in the Watch Tower. I know that sounds stupid, but trust me. Even if someone logs on just to play poker with a buddy, they are still logged on. It would create a more immersive atmosphere and log in numbers. Mini golf, race other people from A to B, a Danger Room style training area, Riddler Challenges you have to solve before another player, anything to break up the grind fest that starts at lvl. 30.....see Second Life

Girls with junk in the trunk. Not being perverted here. Just saying that guys have different tastes in women...and vis versa while I am at it. I guess it would be better to say a more diverse case of lead or player controlled characters. Every dude doesn't have to be a ruggedly handsome brown haired, white dude built like a brick house. And every girl doesn't have to be a boobs so big there would get in the way of all that pointlessly acrobatic martial arts she is doing, 6'2", built like a fashion model holding melons, but has 4 Doctoral degrees in your early 20's so they can claim she isn't just eye candy. A: That is a bullshit cop out. B: These unrealistic expectations of women are why the girl gaming community is so small.....see Silent Hill 2, Half-Life, Penny Arcade, Bad Company 1, Metal Gear Solid anything.

P.S. Don't be afraid to make the scientist chick a little mousy. Some guys love that. Don't be afraid to make a guy a goof ball, a little chubby, whatever you can do to make him 3 dimensional and unique. Metal Gear Solid has this down to a T. Their cast consisted of everything from stereotype eye candy (with a hint of depth) to very large gay man with a god complex (Volg). Hell, in MGS 1, Snake was scrawny, but he was still the man.

Get rid of achievements - they're for console kids
Less repetitive gameplay
No auto-aim
Less cheesy sci-fi crap
Less cheesy fantasy crap
Less cheesy crap in general
Remember when games were challenging? Yeah, that.
Less brutish dudes (GoW, Starcraft, Warcraft, etc.)

Clive Barker Jericho sucked ass. It was a terrible game with a stupid plot, broken AI, repetitive game play, and completely pointless "press X not to die" moments. And Crysis was just pretty. No one bragged about the plot or the story, because they were a sloppy mess.

Speaking of which. No more "press x not to die" moments. I get the point of keeping people into the game during cut sceens, but how about use the actual in game controls for it instead of quick time events. Or at least make the QTE's a part of the game like God of War. I mean if you are going to borrow a concept, have the balls to copy the whole thing or the brains to improve it. Don't make it worse or less important.

I would like more of a realistic look to games . Some thing that can really bring you into the environment with out looking like you are in a cartoon . Know what I mean ?

There was a point in many of our lives that we would put ourselves in worlds in 2D games. Until further advances in technology and hardware, we must close our right brains and use our imaginations like in the past.

As for myself: Real people. By this I mean characters with depth. Some games that come to mind are many of the final fantasy games, Half Life 2, Fallout 3 did a pretty neat job (as in almost there). Due to their nature, RPGs seem to be the best at this, but every game is capable.

To me, when I play a game I want to open a book and learn the characters and story just as much as I want to play the game, sometimes more. It feels like these days designers are too worried about keeping up with the high end graphics.

Could the lack in depth of recent games be due to the fact that we have CEOs and businessmen running our gaming companies rather than gamers and game designers?

I would like to see a return to single player campaigns. The modern era 5-6 hour campaign as an addon for the multiplayer component is pretty stale.

I agree.

I also would like to see a bit more strategy in games. Not just "skill" and "speed" and "accuracy". Actual strategy. Obviously there are RTSes, but I'd like to see a little in FPSes etc

Better stealth games would be welcome. I can barely qualify SC: Conviction as any good of a stealth game IMO

Oh yeah, bring them back! Especially some SNES-ish jRPGs. There are some good PS1 examples on how you can keep that 'feel' and utilize available system resources. Imaging what could be done today on our systems... ohhhhhhh. Nostalgasm.

And boobies was a good answer earlier in the thread. I've been following adult games since the Roger Ramrod and Virtual Valerie era, and overall it hasn't been that good.

Realism? No game can ever compare to the real thing.

Hack free multiplayer, GOOD LUCK.

WEll.. games have come along way in the area of realism.. Besides.. That term means different things to different people.. Its all relative to what you have played and what you expect..... Ive been playing MW2 SP here lately and the realism factor/physics is actually quite good.. Could be better though

Hack free MP is a dream.. I know.. I hope it can be a realization one day

As for AI.. (slips into flame suit) Best AI of any game I played I think was F.E.A.R. Just wished the weapons didn't suck ass IMO

BTW.. BEST MP game I ever played was Alien vs. Predator II.. Bastards had to close the online check for updates BS and now you cant play it online.. ALL because they released that Abomination Alien vs. Predator III:banghead:.. Prettier than its predecessor but that alone doesn't make a good game.. Could of been so much more.. AvP II survivor mode KICKED ASS:toast:.. Such a major disappointment.. Went from major hard on to limp as a noodle with that title

dont get mad, i have played HL2 from 11 to 14 times i really dont remember but after that i had played so many games that thats why I call them old skool, mention a good pc game in 1993 or before??? i think that 2000 make the point and the year 2007 was a great year for gamers.
Ex:
Crysis
Gears of war
Clive Barkers Jericho
Bioshock
CoD modern warfare

Not mad just messing with ya. :p Me personally think the best games came out in .. 1995 to 2002/3. Good PC games from before 1993.... Monkey Island 1/2 are still loads and loads of fun, Commander Keen, Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle (oh god I miss the old LucasArts :(), Ceasar, Lemmings, SimCity, Populous, Leisure Suit Larry (at least from what I remember, we played them at school)..

Grand Theft Auto is like that...

Crysis is fully destructable and you can run anywhere

Where have you been?

crysis has the bare minimum of destructible items, the environment itself is not.

apart from shooting trees with an MG on a vehicle, its almost worthless in crysis.

I enjoyed the ability to destroy buildings and vehicles in Crysis; and found it very useful:)
But I guess I am one of the few who enjoyed (still play on occasion) the game beyond the pretty visuals.
