Apple Intros 2011 Macbook Pro, First Taker for Intel Thunderbolt

just because apple do not make cheap computers they seem to have the opinion they are expensive!

Thats my main problem with them.

They are using the same hardware as Windows now but yet they think they can still charge you 3 times as much for their product.Plus its all built in China using border line slave labor just like the rest....

At least when they were using their own hardware they could argue their point but now thats out the window.

I have issues with their DRM too but im not going there.

PC f*gs vs. Mac f*gs, fight!

The world does not revolve around you, get over it.

Yes it does now moving on :p

I simply want one of these so I can sit in a starbucks and pretend to be doing something.

Thats so yesterday. Its all about the ipad now.

I have no idea what is in and not, all I know I'm sick of the Apple haters here.

That's even worse, yesteryear.

Right now it's high school kids with their Motorola Xooms pretending to be Einstein.

If someone walked up to me with one of those and tried to tell me something in the matter of fact tone they'd have it shoved so far up their arse that by the time they crap it out AMD will have bought over intel.

I know where your coming from man. But I am one of the few haters who have a legitimate beef with those bastards.

Yeah, it's pretty tiresome. Mainly because they no longer deserve the scorn they get from "PC guys" and I expect people here to be better informed and not such blind anti-fanboys.

Though I would be curious to hear what MailMan's "legit beef" is. Apple definitely does some dumb and annoying things form time to time.

Take all that from someone who has supported their products professionally since the mid-90s.

Edit: Dayum!

You are misguided. They do not charge 3x for the same hardware. Compared the exact hardware in a Mac to any other OEM PC in the same category with the same specs and features, and you'll see the prices actually line up pretty evenly. Laptops are a bit priceir, but they are also built from aluminum and glass, not plastic and plexi. Whether you are willing to pay extra for those features is up to you, but that doesn't make them a bad value, just pricey for the performance level. Just don't ever do hard drive or ram upgrades directly from Apple. They rape you on them.

I think i read somewhere that only the 15" and 17" series will have AMD HD6000 graphic card. The lower one uses Intel HD3000...

Can anyone attest to the "new Facetime HD camera that allows Facetime conversations with three times the video resolution"? I'm talking to Munki and he has a brand spanking new 15" i7 MBP. The webcam right now is only shooting at 640 x 480 and looks pretty damn mediocre...

They are not that expensive when you look at the build quality. Any comparable PC (and there are some out there) will be within 10% of the same price, more or less depending on the brand. I mean a 13" notebook with the new sandy bridge, 4gB of ram and a DVD drive (many under 1" thick notebooks dont have DVD drives) and all that aluminum... they are actually quite good deals.

As far as software goes. I just got one of these new mackbooks... OSX with a virtual win7 with VMware Unity, you can run any piece of software for any platform. Windows, Intel or PPC mac, all legal, all superfast.

the 2.3Ghz sandybridge runs a 1M superpi in OsX through vmware at 14.0 seconds

The camera is nothing special IMO, I use skype instead of Facetime. its better than a normal laptop webcam, but nothing close to like a proper HD webcam.

Just to throw this out...this is with the camera.

haha. oh okay. I can't believe I didn't remember that. :slap:

Not sure what he is trying to say though.

Who knows? That's just mailman.

Well you guys can say what you want about price.

I know what I seen price wise when I bought my laptop last year.

Dell Studio 1557
i7 720qm
4 gigs ram
4570 ati card
350gig WD black Scorpio hd
wifi

$999.00

At that time the Mac book equivalent with only a little bit better screen and Intel graphics was $2899.00

Thats close enough to 3 times as much to me

They weren't near the same specs for that price difference, or you got your Dell on sale and the Apple was full price with Apple installed upgrades. Never, under any circumstances, order upgrades to ram and hard drives from Apple. If you a buy a base model Apple product, it's not nearly as big a price difference.

Tho I do still find their laptops to be overpriced for my tastes. I just don't put that much value on aluminum and glass. Some people do.
