I don't know if its age, depression or just a shortened attention span but video games as a whole are pretty boring to me lately. Sometimes you get a gem like BC2 or New Vegas but even those wore on me pretty quick. Almost 200 hours in BC2 and I could care less about rank. Beat NV once and have no need to play it again.

To play games now almost seems like a chore. The only time I can really get into it is when a bunch of friends are playing. Other then that well.....Steam is used for its IM feature more then the games on my account.

Anyone else got into a gaming funk like this?

I get where youre coming from. I used to be more into games then now. If I'm at home, Ill sometimes site at my desk trying to figure out if I want to play something on PC or console and just what. There are games that I do enjoy when playing them. LA Noire for example. Racing games still give me a thrill. But shooters, even though I keep getting them and they have their perks. Its kinda same old shit, different name.

Yeah i know what you mean, I use steam just to talk to some friends and stuff but I'm also getting tired of games like COD and BF. I cant wait for games like skyrim and DotA 2 and some more PC exclusives.

The cure:

Don't play games for a while. Like a month or two. When you come back to it you get that "thrill" again.

Shooters are the only thing I play. Nothing else even remotely holds my attention. Sometimes a good platformer but those are rare as hell anymore.

buy a Sega Genesis lol

I don't know what are your favourite games, but it's possible you are just bored of mainstream games. Perhaps you could try some European gaming, it's definitely different than US games. Try Stalker for FPS, Witcher, Gothic (1 or 2, rest sux) and Risen for RPGs.

Or just go oldschool and play goldies like Fallout 2.

Maybe get an emulator or something and play some old favorites?

Go golfing old man.

Would if the heat index wasn't 115f. Mowed the lawn today and woke up in my shed.

Bought the Genesis pack off steam. 4 hours of old school goodness until I couldn't stomach the graphics anymore. Shinning Force isn't want I remember.

I'm guessing it was the beers that gave you the nap not the heat! How long have I been the one telling you gaming blows? I guess it finally rubbed off;)

I think most gamers have periods like this - especially older gamers. I was away from PC gaming for a good few months, it definitely reignited my interest.

I'm 32 myself and have seen most of the major changes that have happened in the industry along the way. If I get bored now, I focus on my other hobbies for a while - playing guitar and watching/following sport.

Oh I thought you were saying YOU BLEW. Man that conversation makes much more sense now that you clarified............awkward!

Yeah 33 here. Hate sports and my other hobby of shooting is well.......costly to say the least.

Not my fault you live in a swamp that borders hell. It was 81f here today. I shot a 40 on the back 9... Almost got an Eagle today!

Take a few months break from gaming and then try it again, and if it still bores you wait another couple months. No one should ever be in a hurry to game.

It's like watching Star Wars (the originals). :D

That's a part of: growing up

your monitor has poor color accuracy and it's progressive so there are no scanlines.

i am a fan of DOTA ... now dota 2 is releasing on steam after 9 days .. I am planing to get it ....

Me, I play BBC2 for about 10 mins, then get bored. The only thing that I can play for more than half a hour is WoW

I got bored with gameing for a couple years but i recently resparked my interest. Just built a new gaming rig so I can play some newer games.

You need to try the emulators on Steam. They fix all that.

I am also somewhat bored with gaming. I pretty much just play SC2 and BC2. I did completely enjoy Portal 2 however.

It's a common thing to grow bored of doing the same thing over and over again (for most people, those that aren't OCD).

Like others have said, take a break. Come back a month or two later, if you still feel the same then take a longer break. If after a long time away, you still don't enjoy games, well then maybe it's time to leave them and move on to something else.
