While reading a review of the 3GB MSI GTX 580 Lightning i found this line in the conclusion:

Perhaps, a lower noise level and a more affordable price. By the way, judging by the latest news from the Nvidia camp, we can really hope for the price to go down very soon.

Is there any concrete news to support such an 'out there' claim? I didn't think there were any high end green GPU's out till later next year, so why a price drop?

Like i say, it is a rumour but it is from another website.

Maybe sales are down. Then again, too many rumors don't come true.

It wouldn't surprise me if prices are gonna drop. Perhaps with the weak economy sales are dropping? Also, the price of technology tends to drop over time anyway and the GTX 580 is a year old now, so the possibility isn't that much of a stretch.

With a bit more concrete evidence, this sounds like the basis of a hot news story... :D
