A note from qubit

Well considering the rather "rigid" news that is normally posted(not saying there is anything wrong with it)To have qubit post legitimate news in an editorial style was a nice contrast. There was nothing wrong with it at all in my opinion. It ALWAYS made for healthy debates and great discussions(that did not include the "haters" and "trolls" just there to bash it) His articles certainly got alot more traffic than the "normal" news that cannot be denied.

Really isn't news meant to provoke discussion and debate?

Oh please. As I said earlier I can get that elsewhere and do not need it here

and maybe others prefer to get it here than to HAVE to go somewhere else.

And as for insulting people, can't really say I did. I expressed MY views on what I have seen over the last 4 or 5 years on this site. Some people cannot/will not budge from their opinions and can't accept the fact that other people don't think like them.

we don't do that here. and if we start i'll be the first to clear out the comments of some reviews

Honestly if Staff banned members that disagreed with them I would have been perma-banned years ago. Heck Bta raged on me one time years ago (I deserved it. I was trollin) and now I post news. Why? Because its about being respectful. Lets keep this in perspective. Qubit is leaving on his own. He showed himself the door and we as staff wish him the best of luck! :toast:

It was obviously meant as a joke

Oh and qubit, I hope you keep that same vigor you had in your news posts while you continue posting around the forum, it's great for discussions etc

Again, neither the readers (feedback from), nor the management is in any way responsible for qubit leaving the news team.

To the contrary, myself and the rest of the management stood by qubit as the community initially "rejected" qubit's style as if it's some foreign tissue transplanted to TPU. No less than W1zzard acknowledged that qubit's style will be missed, in this thread.

Qubit explained why he left the news team. He stopped enjoying posting news, and is moving on to better opportunities, and for that we can all wish him good luck.

No no bta I am by no means implying it was the staff that "pushed him out the door" If I was in qubit shoes I don't think I could have maintained the composure he did considering the the polarized responses he got. But I can accept his reasoning for bowing out because of it. If your not enjoying doing what your doing then why do it?

For me he will be genuinely missed :respect:

As I said earlier I can get that elsewhere and do not need it here. At least not in the post itself.

Anything else we can do while we're at it your lordship, I didn't realise TPU was here solely to please you...

I'll be missing your 'style' Qubit. But well, since you no longer found enjoyment in posting news, I understand. We work enough in real life, and our spare time should be dedicated to what we enjoy doing. See ya around mate!
:toast:

This is where the statement, "No news is good news"... is completely wrong! I'm glad you are sticking around, but I will miss your news posts. It added a new kind of flavor to the news that I think TPU was missing. I applaud you for having the courage to do something you wanted to do even if others didn't approve. I see your courage was also contagious, because we have a growth in the news department which is great for TPU'ers.

Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence. -Vince Lombardi

Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened. - Billy Graham

Best of luck in your future endeavors qubit. :toast:

I was not a great fan of Q's news reporting style, he knows that, we had an open and non inflamitory discussion about it but I am the first to admit.... I'm a bit old in the tooth, to me news is news..... based on facts (as far as they can be) and not personal opinion, once personal opinion creeps in then it becomes personal and gets personally defended or attacked, as we have seen that has led on occasions to personal attacks and on a couple of occasions to all out war, simply because some don't know how to have a healthy debate or disagreement without insults and crap and from that Mods have to step in and try to calm the storm... that means more work for me/us lol.

Having said all that, I acknowledge that he has made a significant contribution to the news team and these forums and there clearly is a large selection of the community that has enjoyed his writing, and for that I say "Thank You". :toast:

Really isn't news meant to provoke discussion and debate?

I just want to give my opinion on this and it's just my opinion, I'm going to post it and not argue the point. "News" is something that can be posted as fact, testimonial, etc.

Adding opinion into these things can skew the facts and presentation of the news and that (as I previously stated, "In my opinion") is not news. A previous poster said that that bland old news reporting without any opinion or whathaveyou is for sheep-people. Do sheep-people need to be told how to think or can a person interpet the facts for themselves and come up with their own opinion? I'm thinking the latter.

At first, I didn't quite care for qubit's opinionated "News" stories as I felt they lacked journalistic integrity as defined by above. After a while, I accepted them for what they were and enjoyed them for what they were. So to sum it up, news presented as what is defined as news can just as easily provoke discussion and debate as much as the way it was presented by qubit.

Now, I don't want to take anything away from what qubit has done. It's clear to me he put a lot of effort into what he did and worked hard at it and for that I am appreciative. :toast:

People may be wondering why my username name no longer appears in purple. I'd just like to let fans of my news articles know that it's because I've quit writing news for TPU. There were a few differences with management and my hobby stopped being fun and rewarding so I decided that it was time to call it a day and return to being a regular member.

I don't regret having done this for a minute though and I'd like to thank you all for being such a great audience and making it all worthwhile. I gained some experience in writing news stories and loved interacting with you in the forum following a news post. :toast:

I especially would like to thank all those who took the time and trouble to PM me/visitors messages for articles to write up, often many times over. You guys are awesome! :rockout: :respect:

Edits are in bold.

Well that sucks.

Wow. Talk about reactionary. Give me break, dude.

Seen it happen a few time's, some people just can't handle an "authority" posistion in a public domain based on open discussion :o From what i have seen W1zz stand's behind his mod's. Which is fine but i think some thing's should be looked at more openly :o

Qubit is leaving on his own. He showed himself the door and we as staff wish him the best of luck! :toast:

Perhap's thing's will/can change and qb can return to the team, stale news is crap news. The more option's we have for news the better, whether or not you agree with someone's viewpoint or methodology should not retract from the information being passed on, is this early/mid 1900's europe with all the government only issued/approved "news" AKA propaganda....

By "stale" you mean impartial, uncontroversial and "just the facts"? That's what "news" is supposed to be by definition. Anything else is called Editorial.

I agree with this. What Qubit was writing was vitriol, not news. He is good at it, and it certainly stirs the pot. In the US, radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck make great livings doing the same thing, so there's definitely an audience for the skill that Qubit displays. It was thought provoking and fun, but people get angry when you put a news label on that kind of stuff. When you put an opinion label on it, everyone settles and enjoys being poked and prodded a little bit. He was born and bred for the Op Ed page, not the front page.

To me news should make you think, make you talk. If it doesn't it's crap. I don't care what a dictionary say's news is supposed to be. It is possible to do this without being biased, it's all in the presentation IMHO of course, which is not worth much :o

I like variety

I agree in some small part, Nancy Disgrace is considered "News" Yet all she does is convict and persecute! Yet millions of morons watch her as if she has all the answers! Though I never found qubit's news to contain any vitriol. I liked his thought provoking news and will miss it.

Then you should go to Fudzilla for your "news" and TPU for your facts (aka the real world). As for your claim mods ban people for disagreeing with them Ill call BS and point you to this thread.
