Logitech International today announced an organizational alignment to the strategic priorities outlined by newly appointed CEO Bracken P. Darrell last month. These priorities include increasing focus on mobility products, improving profitability in PC-related products and enhancing global operational efficiencies. This alignment to the strategic priorities creates incremental cost savings of approximately $16 to $18 million in operating expenses in Fiscal Year 2014, a result of a workforce reduction. This is in addition to the previously announced $80 million savings in annual operating costs (operating expenses plus costs of goods sold) for Fiscal Year 2014 related to the Company's April 2012 restructuring.

"As we align the organization with our strategy to become a faster, more profitable company, we have also created opportunities to become more focused, improve operational effectiveness and even deliver additional cost savings that will contribute to improved profitability," said Bracken P. Darrell, Logitech president and chief executive officer. "These actions support our goals to develop outstanding mobility- and PC-related products, streamline our cost structure and achieve faster times to market."

Logitech anticipates recording a pre-tax, cash charge of approximately $12 to $14 million in the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2013. The charge is related primarily to personnel reductions, with the Company eliminating approximately 140 positions, or 5 percent of its worldwide non-direct-labor workforce.

Additional information regarding the restructuring charges is provided in Logitech's Current Report on Form 8-K being filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on March 1, 2013 and made available on Logitech's website.

Considering that every single stupid mobile phone and tablet accessory costs 30 € or more ("orginal" not white brands), financially a good decision.

Not that I am buying them accessories though, lol

Eliminating a bunch of jobs is the first hint that the new CEO doesn't know how to fix Logitech's real problems which is poor product quality and customer service. Ask anyone who has firsthand experience with their PC products which have gone from class leading to very unreliable and disposable crap.

They ain't gonna develop outstanding products if they don't accept that their current products are basically junk. Having purchased many Logitech products over the past 20 years, I have been extremely disappointed with all Logitech products that I have purchased in the last 3-4 years. That's why I stopped buying Logitech all together and I'm sure that many other enthusiasts have also stopped buying Logitech for the same reason.

Buy the gaming line. I do. very good stuff. The gaming line is much better. I allready have dropped my G700 a few times and it's been beat up a bit I got it about 2.7 months ago and I love it. Best mouse I've ever had. I love how many buttons it has as well as the LGS software. I also like how it's both wired and wireless as well.

Their headsets are great but the H390 I had was kinda crapping out after 5 years and being beat up a lot thru 2 moves and quite a few drops and chairs running them over and crap so I got a G35 headset and it's awesome so far.... will write a review on it after a month or two.

I just also got a UE350 IEMs as well... (these are just a pair I got to keep in my purse so I got better sound for my phone on the go. will get some really good trip cans later)

A lot of people are also able to blog about frustrations and stuff but are afraid to actually approach the companies themselves. Please do so. Many people have also gotten too complacent lately... they accept the crap and then they just buy another instead of trying to get it resolved with the companies.

I personally own 10 Logitech products and only 2 of them have had any problems. The rest still work great... the 3 trackball mice I have from them still work they just look ghetto and beat up a bit from tons of moves and stuff... but they still work and they were only 20 bucks. I got two LX series corded optical mice and one of them doesn't work but the other one still does and I used it as a cat toy for a while and it still works fine LOL. I've had one of those trackball mice for 10 years and it's been thru 10 moves and has been beat the hell up. I even got mad and threw it off my desk when I had fallout 3 crash a lot.... LOL.

I guess some people have better luck with some things and bad luck with others.... :(

I do hear great things about Logi's cust support though... but I haven't needed em yet ever.

WTF, really ?.. dam i have had nothing but top notch service from them in fact that good that i cannot even think of another company that would go head over heals to make you happy..

As for quality there normally no worse than any other company's around the same price range.

If you want to point fingers at a bad company pick Razer as they suck support and quality wise.

Asrock.... more service details please....

And i own 4 of their mice and the battery(s) seem to last longer than some others even more so the microsoft bluetooth which is total trash.

Thanks. That's great!

My hubby has a Microsoft wireless mouse and yeah He goes through AA batteries like water. He loves the mouse but he hates the battery life. I might get him to get the same one I have the G700 as it's wired and wireless and he would be able to use it wired most the time as well as re-charge the batteries effortlessly.

A few exceptions doesn't mean that Logitech hasn't fallen on hard times of their own doing. Those of us who have been buying and using Logitech keyboards and mice for the past 20 years know that at one time they were quality products but that changed years ago. As far as service goes, waiting two weeks for them to process and supply a replacement keyboard or mouse is absurd but the norm based on several recent experiences. When the replacement items fails withing 60 days, you know they are pumping crap out the door. Now it's finally caught up with them.

They can eliminate people but that isn't going to fix their basic product and service issues. If they keep pumping crap out the door their next "reorganization" will be bangruptcy and it's all of their own doing. They have lost their way and diversified so much that they have no clue what their problems are.

Unfortunately there are many bad companies "out there". Some have bad product quality or design, others have poor service. The really bad ones have both bad products and service. Logitech and many others fit into this category based on my long time experience with their products. I would not use a Logitech product these days if you gave it to me. If they ever get their act together, down the road 5 years or so I might try them again but not until I see concrete improvements across the board.

Yes there are a few companies who do have good products and service because they actually care about their customers and they know the "lifetime value of a customer". If you don't have the proper mentality or philosophy, you're not going to retain customers for life.

What were your problems with Logitech? Please be as detailed as you can.

bring us the g29 already. logitech mady some serious cash out of the g27 and can't step up a notch to release a g29 wheel everybody is waiting for. can't feel sorry for them otherwise.
