Everything looks clean and legible with good color palette choices --
Your nav menu is dark blue, section headlines are gradient blue, your sub titles are blue
hyperlinks are blue, and even the small tab on the right (mobile) --
unfortunately your logo is grey/red making it almost feel as if is for a different website.

You should've made at least the main navigation menu the same dark grey as that of the logo (#333333)
Make the "mobile app" tab the same red too,... almost feels like it fades into the background because the blue is so light.

red text and large red areas always look like "error message"

just a thought, arent most forums blue and maybe red could be used as a trial (with a poll)

means tpu would be different and stands out.

plus that blue looks similar to ermm dare i say it facebook.

press f5. i made them lighter grey. not sure if the color could be confused with "nothing new in that thread" ?

this has been reverted, i find it too distracting. current tpu design doesn't highlight visited links either

borders of the coments under news itslef are also faint.

i replaced the dotted border by an image. so it should be the same on any browser

Nice did not lost TPU feel completly (common when sites updating ) but something missing ; blueish color around upside /top techpowerup logo and at the body ,without that blueish color site looks a bit generic CMS product

Big NEXT button this what i loved ,who coded this ? Give a reward to him/her , tiny tiny arrows make navigating difficult btw i think also BACK button may be usefull.

also i like the minimalistic buttons found on windows 8. it would looks good.

btw i think also BACK button may be usefull.

to go back you can use the dropdown on the left, or your browser back button.

since most people will only forward through the review there is only a forward button to keep things clean

i implemented it, and it looked and felt great. but then i realized that it could hurt our google ranking.

the link has the same anchor text as the news story, and goes to the forum.

google could interpret it as source link and rank the forum page higher than the actual news page.

i did add another "post your comment" button at the end (10+ posts) so you don't have to scroll up

Makes sense, I guess I got used to this button and it exists only in reviews:

suddenly font became pixelized. i can swear it was smooth few mins ago. could it be that fix for scroll bar for npu news to be the reason. opera
under ie 10 everything looks fine
thx for fix btw.
all border lines (news articles, review section, comments under news) are now well visible in both browsers.
as for the coloring of the links its up to you to decide. for me it was lazy way to track what i have checked but if it doesnt fit color schemes we can live w/o it.

the sony post is the last item in the list, you can adjust the width of your browser window to check if that makes any difference, but i doubt it.

those font issues are on opera?

Looks more modern and clean. Like it. Any plans to change forum UI as well?

I like it on my 1440p monitor in IE9 it's kind of like the difference between having MS Cleartype enabled/disabled, text looks crisper, easier to read, looks like it has more definition without just increasing the font size, can see this looking very nice on my HTC One.

Sorry didn't look through all 3 pages, will this also be rolled out to the forums? they would benefit from a new look like this no end.

Thanks W1zz keep up the good work :toast:

We are not making any changes to the forums at this time.

I'm monitoring progress on vBulletin 5 (horrible at the moment), and XenForo (v1.2 seems promising)

We will probably know more later in 2013. So little point investing time now to lose all work later this year.

Worth a try I guess :p on that note, how old is the version of Vbulletin that TPU runs? I've been visiting the forums since 2007 and don't seem to recall any significant changes to the layout/look in all that time.

gotta ask the internet archive, i have no idea. we've always used vbulletin 3. back then it was the best forum software by far. great features, stable, fast. then vbulletin 4 came out and started to suck. vbulletin 5 is even worse, try their demo. browser hangs for 5 seconds at every page load.

I know not every user and staff member uses English as their first language or even second, but i noticed some of the grammar is different. Some of the headers have for example "Of" some have "of. The useage of capital letters is what im discussing. I can forgive incorrect usage of commas ect if the text is legible and understandable. I know press releases are statements from companies and not the poster.

I like the layout, but have a few cosmetic grievances.

The top links to sections of the website like FORUM, DOWNLOADS, CONTACT US; i find this jarring. Even with my irlen lenses on i immediately get drawn to these when i first visit the page. On the old page the text was as Contact us, Forum, Downloads and in a sort of bold lettering, which i found easier on my eyes.

The header font for news posts is also like this, i tend to find it hard to read the text because of the style and size of the header text.

EDIT: I also don't see a share button anymore on the news posts, you have to go into the news post to get the sharing options for Twitter, Facebook ect.

The sections at the left hand side like "New Forum Posts" and "Popular Reviews" are now in black, i assume this is so people dont think they have clicked on a link already, but being a wall of text and in black is hard to read. It all looks like its BOLD. The older page has this as a slight purple colour which is much better to view. Ideally i would say a grey would be easiest on the eyes but then it might looks like someone had clicked those links already.

its too bright for my eye... maybe because of the more empty space on side.

chrome does render custom fonts a bit more pixely, but not that bad. do you have font smoothing turned off ?
I turned off a bunch of visual stuff not too long ago. Clearfont must of been one. I turned that back on and it is not as bad is in that previous screenshot.
