First my G5 after about 4 months use, now my G500. I already repaired my G500 only a few months after first using. The dam wire ends up breaking where it goes into the mouse. That'
s 2 100 dollar after taxes and shipping mice down the toilet. I need a gaming mouse with an indestructible I guess wire, and switchable speeds, and multiple programmable buttons. And oh ya, it should last more that a few months, and be less than 100 bucks.

Hmmm. That's a bummer. My G500 is at least three years old, no troubles. The wire is heavy and lined with nylon, not sure how yours broke, are you running it up against something? Also, Logitech ships new stuff to your door if you call them, should have done that the first time. There are tons of stories about people having to smash their old peripherals as part of the deal:laugh:

Logitech support is excellent. They will often just send you a replacement if anything on your current mouse breaks.

Why didn't you replace them?

You might want to look at a wireless gaming mouse if you're tugging wires out of normal ones.

I have a six year old G5. I can't stand it, it is too tall for my liking, but it serves as a backup for when one of my "good" mice fail.

The cable on my g500 also died so i contacted logitech and they sent me a nice new G500s.

Not sure how you are getting the cable to wear at the join on the mouse.

Only time I have had cable wear happen with my MX518 was due to snagging on something constantly.

Not sure if the G500 has an identical cable to the MX518 though, if it does, it will be cheap to replace.

As for the G700, I am personally interested in the mouse as well.
Started using a wireless controller and liking it so wouldn't mind trying out a wireless gaming mouse

I currently use the performance mouse, just the standard desktop version though. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I don;t notice any difference between this and a wired mouse. However, I would like more buttons and the ability to switch DPI on the fly seems pretty useful.

I'd like more buttons though, and I can't stand wired mice. The cables always get in the way and just p*** me off.

According to the advertisement, that G700 has a 0.001s delay time between the mouse and receiver. even if that figure were off by a factor of 10, it'd still be plenty fast enough.

I have like three Logitech mice and all are working fine. My G500 is at least 2 years old

I have my Logitech G3 for so long i don't even know how old it is. It fits my hand the best, it's very light which i like and just works great. I had to replace the gliding pads once and it seems they are due to replacement soon (again).

Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 for teh win.

I have always thought Logitech mouses are a bit on the expensive side for me. But yes, there's a reason we have the RMA process to lean to.

And how are you using your mice to cause that problem?

i Have heard that one too.

And beyond, i emailed them about a none working mouse sure it was a cheap $25 wireless one but they asked me when i got it and were from they just send a new one in the post no receipt no pictures required. And some of there stuff even carry's a 3 year warranty to boot.

And only reason i do't use a Logitech mouse as my main one is because they lack left handed designs which is such a shame.

Never had a wire break on a mouse before but i always keep the wire straight to the back of the table...

Kinda wondering why he not getting replacements even more so from Logitech

cold weather isnt good on rubber and plastic. they make them brittle. make sure when you are traveling etc, your wires are tucked away in a nice warm pouch.

agreed, i had a G5 thats right click was malfunctioning and called them and they sent me a G500 w/o even having to send the old one in. A friend ended up fixing the G5 and uses it to this day.

I've got two G700 mice, one at home and one at work. I absolutely love it. It is nice that you can actually use the usb cable as not only a charging cable, but also a data connection is really nice. If people prefer a wired mouse, then just use the cable.

i had my g5 for 5 years, it died called logitech they gave me 50% off a g500.

I have had the g500 for i think 2 years now, still working great however i am craving an *upgrade*.

I have G700 and it's great mouse.

But for me, Logitech support isn't perfect. When microswitch was broke I contact Logi and they tell my that I must send mice to service. After three weeks I got my G700 but G10 button was broken and scroll are scratched. So I contact again Logi and they tell me that I must send to service again...
In the meantime, I contacted Logitech lot of time and finally they wanted me to send them mice and they exchange to new G700 or G700s. But I sent mouse to service.
Finally after three weeks, service sent my new G700. So I'm waited to new mouse six weeks. And I got 35% discounts for all Logitech product in my country.

Have you though about reinforcing the cable where it enters the mouse? You could apply some JB weld to reinforce it.

G700. I got it. I love it

Someone posted a "How to fix" vid sometime ago, lemme do a quick search...

Edit: Holy shiznit! It was me! Process should be the same, when it's opened up you can find ways to make it a bit more stable and hopefully longer lasting :o

Re Logitech service, i was within warranty but they needed POP with invoice, maybe because the build date was over the warranty period? Anyways, they sent me a BNIB G9x and i repaired the original G9 so i got 2 now :D

I'd like to get my hands on a 518 and frankenmod a better laser into it, i'd scavenge my OG G9 for it TBH :pimp:

So, if could dig up my electronic invoice, and hopefully retrieve the sn, I could just contact support and get a new one? I've already repaired it once, and reinforced the cable, so it's pretty modified. I guess where I'm using it causes wear on the cable so this keeps happening. I might consider a wireless gaming mouse, but they are pricey for the good ones.
Edit: both my G5 and this G500 are well under a year old.
Edit2: it's actually the sleeving on the cable that rubs on my wooden support table... I have much older mice with no sleeving that are in perfect condition.

S/N & PID should be on a tag near the USB connector, and yes if you find your invoice and are within warranty they will send you out a replacement ASAP! Think i got mine within 14 days from beggining to end.

Sometimes they clear out refurbs on their site, might wanna check it out! A lot of times you can get G9x for like $50! You can even try asking a rep when on the fone with them ;)

When i did my repair i put a small piece of heatshrink over the wire where it passes through the grommet, time will tell though :o

Edit: The problem is, from what i can tell, that the shielding material is to stiff and doesn't have enough flex. So, over time, it breaks! Then the wires are quick to follow...

Thanks, yeah the tag with the info is still there. I'll give it a shot.
