Well, fan controller just took a dump this morning, and was hoping maybe it might work again if I power system off and boot back up after I go home from class to play a bit. Nope, fan controller is effectively dead now. thought it was working while I was playing till I noticed CPU temps jump, and no fan noise.

Made a support ticket to lamptron for RMA. So I probably wont be on till that gets resolved. I don't really want to try running my system on passive cooling. Idle temps are fine at first, but with a little bit of load the temps will start to climb slowly.

might go ahead and just connect my rad fans to the PSU if I start to have BF4 withdrawls for the time being.

Yeah do what you gotta do. Sucks to have to disconnect and reconnect later but not as much as not being able to play.

think I got it. Moved my radiator fans to the 4th channel which seems to be working. And connected one of my front fans to my motherboard to get some airflow to the 780 for now.

Still going to RMA, and possibly request the new v3 as a replacement or some money from me for the upgrade.

I need to stop trying to use air units... 99% of players have AA and the 25 seconds it takes for flares and chaff to cooldown makes you a sitting target for any 12 year old with a stinger..

Theirs also no really good maps in this game.. theirs a few that are above average, a few that are meh playable, and a couple that just suck..

Theirs a lack of middle ground when it comes to vehicles and infantry.. you either need to be infantry and stay at the cap points or die.. or enjoy always using vehicles

I find vehicles as a whole to be a little too powerful in BF4. I've shot down my fair share of helicopters but I've seen a couple people in an LAV dominate an entire game because it takes something absurd like 6 rockets to blow the thing up. Granted if we had more than 1-2 people shooting at it things would be easier, but it just seems kind of absurd that some vehicles are the powerful.

Attack Boats have to be the absolute worst. I have never been able to make a dent in them without being immediately murdered.

Yeah...maybe had reactive armor and gotta hit the weaker spots too.

Edit: OMFG wow, we all know sound cards are better but this $30 used Asus Xonar DX is such an improvement over onboard it's unbelievable and a little ridiculous. And just any discrete card either (though that should be evident). Coming from an old X-Fi Xtreme Gamer the 898 onboard actually was an improvement. But it's not even in the same ballpark as this card (third party Unity drivers). I haven't even tried speakers or high quality headphones yet either.

I almost always aim for the back or the treads on tanks/LAV. I have an impressive number of vehicle disables to boot. Another problem as I said is that not a lot of people play Engineer...correctly. The biggest problem I encounter is that you have RPG's that are good for ground vehicles, or Stingers which are good for Air vehicles, and you can only pick one. I always end up in a situation where I respawn with a Stinger, and their Chopper is already down and 2-3 ground vehicles roll into the point I'm at. Pretty frustrating.

The angle you hit it matters too. Like dead on to the rear is more than say 45 off and hitting it the rear.

Regardless of visual quality settings. So im certain I am CPU limited (hoping mantle will deliver while I await steamroller). Thanks for the feedback!

Mine will drop into the high 30's at times, but I would have to be in a mushroom cloud for that to happen now. I have everything on Ultra with MSAA x 2 and my normal drops are in the 40's.

Where the hell did they put weapon stats per game. On the round summary screen they removed an important page with it. Now I can't compete in knife kills. Can't even find in in battlelog ?

Sadly my FPS doesn't seem to be all that great. Playing BF4 is actually making me feel slightly sick from the FPS drops. Using a 6950 and running Med settings on it with all AA off and it just dips so much that my eyes start catching jumping edges and such.

Low 40's with everything totally maxed out. If I turn off the anti-aliases I see maybe a 3 FPS increase so I just leave it maxed. I have seen a lot of lag lately, but it is server related, especially with full 64 man servers. 4 cores is pretty important. My laptop plays it better then my nephew's dual core that has a better GPU then I have in the laptop. Laptop spec's are in my signature.

There is a maintenance update going on and it should be back soon.

Back in Feb I sold my 2nd 7970 and picked up a nice headset, soundcard, and capture card with that cash. A month after that my kid spilled pop on my comp tower killing my mobo and a ram stick. I RMA'd the ram, surprisingly I think the 7970 lived. But then my wife knocked it off the table and a corner hit the floor and it hasn't worked since Thats disappointed me so much I havent even sold the waterblock off it yet (plus a few other crappy things this year). I finally got my comp back up and running about a month ago, but borrowing ufgy's old 6950 for now, will see if funds permit me picking up a 7950 or something around that about Black Friday time. Till then I think it's time to overclock the snot out of the 2600k again, ran it between 4.8 and 5.0 for well over a year, since I got it back up and running I've just had it at a leisure 3.8. So will have to see what kind of difference that'll get me to hold me over to a better card. would love a 290, but I don't think I can swing those kinds of funds, unless I sell some stuff.

Nice. One day I'm gonna visit you up there man. There are a few places Ive always wanted to hunt. Kodiak Island (Bear), Montana (Elk), Africa (Boar), and India (Tiger). Montana at this point in my life seems the most feasible.

Nah I mean the screen after you finish a round. In 3 you could see dogtags taken and stuff like that, I think its the last tab on the end screen. Now its gone.

Isn't PP FXAA? And isn't there a minimal penalty for using it... at least compared to the MSAA? I have never tested it, in fact, since, to me, it tends to lower overall image quality, I have it set to low/off or whatever.

So my son has an Athlon II x4 with a GTX460SE and that should work to get him better frame rates as well ? He is gonna try and buy it this weekend. He has played a couple rounds on my account and noticed some slow frame rates at times. He is running a mixture of High and Medium settings.

I get random crashes all the friggin time, I tried the usual remedies and nothing worked!

I have had two frozen screens since release. NO BSOD at all, but I'm only at level 10 or 11, but still those where just the first couple days. Has any one kept track of what may be the common denominator ? Is it all one brand of GPU, Number of cores, maybe lack of enough ram? I have noticed most have good updated CPU's , but haven't paid much attention to anything else. Maybe because I have a HEX core I've been lucky or something. Sure has a lot of people stumped that is for sure.

Yeah, did you ever think that animals fight back like tigers because, we as humans, are invading them, destroying their habitats, killing them off one by one, etc.

Obviously I have a soft spot for animals and wild life in general. I am prepared for anyone willing to talk shit about that.

Now, back to battlefield.

That M4 Carbine is godly. Even though its only burst, if you are able to click your mouse fast enough you can make it auto pretty fast. And its ridiculously accurate!
