upgrade time

right guys I need a no bs assessment of the following options for my upgrade.
I currently have this
CPU: AMD FX-8120
CPU cooler: stock
Mobo: Asus M599X EVO
RAM: 2 x 4Gb Corsair Vengeance ddr3
GPU: PNY Geforce GTX670 2gb
PSU: Corsair tx850
Case: Corsair Carbide white
Monitor: JVC 32" LED tv
Mouse: Logitech G400
Keyboard: Logitech g510
Headset: Logitech g35
Speakers: Logitech X530

OS: Win 7 64bit
current things I am looking at upgrading:
SSD, CPU or GPU
the 670 rocks everything except bf4 but that's another story.
my main hdd is a 120gb 7200rpm job so a ssd is looking a mighty fine prospect especially with the prices being down a lot from what they were.
the gpu side I am looking at going for 2 R9 270x's for crossfire but that's mainly due to ONLY bf4 being a bitch about things. so justifying it seems silly.

then lastly I am looking at getting a FX8320, but I don't see a difference between it and the 8120 except the fact that it uses the new pile driver architecture.
so. no holds barred okes.
let me know which will be the better option because getting all of it is unfortunately not an option

Get an ssd, get a better cooler and oc the cpu and oc the gpu , That's what I'd do.

120GB HDD??? Do you realize how old and slow that is? I should know, I'm running a 160GB HDD and spend a lot of time waiting for it. Upgrading to an SSD would make a world of difference. (best to do a new install on the SSD)

PNY has been around for a long time. That says something. They're not the flashiest company out there but they just seem to deliver solid products. Don't discount them because of their name, do a little research and pick the best product for the price.

I am partial to Kingston. I believe them to be the largest Memory maker. I may be wrong. The Samsung is also a very good product, and is faster than the Kingston. However, I believe Kingston's have a longer write life.

BTW, too lazy to back it up with links of proof. Plus, it is simple to find and better for you to do a comparison based on your research, as opposed to mine. You will learn more that way.

Hint's, look at each companies website, Newegg, Amazon and of course here on TPU!

Good luck, and don't be over-wow-ed by purely R/W speeds, pay attention to lifespan's.

Unless a SSD has a failure, like any other electronic item, they will outlast their usefulness. The Tech Report is up over 600TB on a bunch of SSD's without much of a problem. Wearing out is not a concern, but you may want to stay away from TLC SSD's, and there aren't many of those out there.

ssd, a lot of ppl recommend samsung evo, mostly mentioned ssd in the forums as i see it.
cpu cooler, yeah change that and OC cpu+ gpu very good advise.
third 2x270x in your case is not most wonderful solution. 2 of them perform not too far from 280x/gtx770. today i read a review of 770 being 5% faster than gtx680. good oc on 670 matches stock 680. if you need more gpu power, better add one more gtx670.

Usefullness, is by definition, a subjective term. One's usefullness is another's trash.
Wearing out? Methinks this should be a consideration since, the Speeds these things go is really only truly needed for large data transfers. If I can get a second or third speediest, that has a much longer R/W cycle...It is worth more to me.
TLC's...I concur, STAY AWAY!! Why? Because of their lifespans. Thus, backing up my previous statement.

Forget the CPU for now. The Bulldozer to Piledriver at the same clock speed is a minor improvement in most areas, its already overkill for BF4 already. Go into the bios and nudge the clock speed about 300-400Mhz and you got a Piledriver for free.

Your 670 is a very powerful card, it really shouldn't struggle on BF4 at all. It must be your resolution. You'd need R290x tier card or better to make any upgrade worthwhile or SLI GTX 670 as someone else suggested.

8GB of RAM is sort of borderline these days, maybe 16GB so you can turn off virtual memory. If you're buying an SSD make sure the capacity is big enough, game installations are getting bigger. Titanfall game takes up 48GB, then factor in the OS, than 50% of your SSD storage is gone! I wouldn't touch anything smaller than 240GB.

R9 270x in CF would be slower than a GTX 670 in SLI. Considering that you've got one GTX 670 already, SLI seems the more feasible route of CF.

SSD is the most cost effective upgrade for you. I got a Seagate 600 240GB SSD and it is FAST and very inexpensive. I have also heard good things about Samsung's 840. If you want better VGA, I would recommend selling 670 and buying a 780 (or a 780 ti) rather than buying a second 670. An R9 290 would be nice but the prices are really high.

An aftermarket heatsink would be a good and cheap upgrade for the CPU as well. You could do a Coolermaster Hyper 212 for $30.
