well if you are tied between a Titan (non black non Z) and a 290 and you don't need double precision, the choice is obvious, same goes for 290X/Titan Black 295X2/Titan Z (and comparing the price also .... not only the performances)The titans are insanely powerful, but also insanely overpriced. Their big advantage is that they can be used for both gaming and HPC. For pure HPC, the Tesla K series, while expensive, is a beast. The 780 Ti, a gamer's card, is powerful, but still pretty expensive. In terms of value, high-end AMD cards score best.
