I prefer single rail PSU designs as well, but I have seen single and multi-rail PSU's both die, from good and crap vendors. Generally, if you go with a main-stream name, get at least 80+, and at least 100W more than you need, and a 5+ year warranty preferred, you'll be ok. Stay away from the chinese $20 PSU's and you'll generally be okay. I very rarely see a mainstream PSU fail anymore...seems that quality is better than it was in years past...or I've been lucky and so have my customers. :D

FSP has been around for decades. You see them more in the OE market anymore.

i know fsp. they are oem for some of corsair mid class psus which got very good ratings in reviews. HEC (sub 600w units bronze/80+ rated) are those that i never heard before.
since i ended up discussing same evga psu in 2 threads i will just quote my comment about multi rail units from other thread
650g unit review.
http://hardocp.com/article/2014/05/16/evga_supernova_nex650g_650w_power_supply_review/1#.VBnMxvvriJA
i couldnt find anything about ocp and i couldnt see close to 20A load per rail so no real info about its capabilities. it has 4 pcie connectors so it might be that 20A limit refers them. who knows
if you have misleading info about psu and if its capabilities are unclear better dont touch.
i am not jonnyguru but multi rail unit less then 1kw or with more then 2 rails - no thanks. with vga cars capable to suck more then 300w multi rail unit can become hard obstacle for running hardware you'd like.
your approach for selecting right psu can be applied to pretty much everything you can buy. you cant expect quality from something that is 4-5 times cheaper then average price of other offerings around :shadedshu:

Heh, you are really all over that multi rail thing being a problem... LOL. Note that a lot of PSU's these days will label on the PSU which is from which rail.

PC MATE should be fine and 4,2-4,4 ghz OC possible easily. good choice for g3258. stay with it you can change it later to some i5. try to get 280-280x/ 760 will be ok with gpu for some time.
wait for few weeks prices could go down on those. evo212 highly recommended as a budget cooler doing great job.
(i have e8400@3,6 now) had another cooler zalman special edition with MB. in idle only2-3 degrees difference. at prime testing old one was up to 75, evo stays 60-62 100% load. will change my cpu to g3258 in few month.

Oh they are there.. but really its mostly not a big issue. Really this is too much discussion over it, that is how little it means to me.

Single rails solves the problem of course... but that is neither here nor there I suppose. :)

I have another question. Does SLi really make much difference between Sli enabled and DLI disabled?
Thx :D

That you will have to find results from others...depends on the games, drivers, heat, power, chipset, etc, etc, etc. Generally I have found it to be more headache than it's worth and rarely, usually never get close to +100% performance...though my experience is more limited than others around here. I prefer one stronger card to two slower cards in SLI, even if they are faster overall. There are too many issues with Crossfire and SLI that keep me away for a stable, simple, dependable gaming system. Just my 2 cents.

no vga
i dont think you will be able to play latest games with intel's igpu
get cheaper od. there are some options for ~15$. you can also delay 212evo.
invest saved money into better psu. 500-550W seasonic, xfx (seasonic made) or corsair. if selected properly psu could be the part that you will never replace. also that low powered psu will limit your vga choice quite hard. if you plan to get i5 later you will have even less available power for vga.
if you cant afford wd red or black better go with seagate baracuda (for +2 over wd blue if i remember well). wd green and blue arent fastest drives you could have for that amount of $.

Edit:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NYJ2jX 466$ with evo included.
that 650w xfx in the list is best buy you can make. offer ends 09.30 so dont think too much

Thanks for the edit. As for the VGA....oops....Looks like I;m going to have to go motherboard hunting again.... -_-
Can you also please clarify the part where you said, "There are some options for ~15$"? Thanks! Once again I say I really appreciate you helping me, as well as everyone else.

Thanks guys. I really apreciate this. Sorry it took me some time to reply, I didn't have any time on my hands. Anyways, for overclocking what do you think of this mother board?
MSI Z97 PC Mate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130779
Thanks again. I think I'll go with a Pentium 3258.
Why bother doing that? just buy an intel i5 quad core and get a cheap motherboard (like an h81). No point in overclocking in modern times anyway.

Yes but for the rest of his ownership he will have problems running games that use more than 1-2 cores. The system will go obsolete faster. I'd rather have a 3.0ghz quad than a 4.5 ghz dual core.
problem is 400-500 limit atm. plan is pentium to be replaced later with i5 and vga to be added.

problem is 400-500 limit atm. plan is pentium to be replaced later with i5 and vga to be added.
Thats foolish IMO. He should just wait until he has the money to just buy an i5 + vga. Or just buy a used 2500k.

Yes and I'd advise against buying a dual core as a primary system or buying low end now and upgrading later, its a good way to waste money. If he has to buy new and is on a tight budget, skip the dvd burner and go with 4gb ram instead of 8gb, can always buy another 4gb later and get a dvd drive used.
