Ok, So I have had this card for about 3 weeks. It has been flawless up until today. CS:GO and Skyrim load up with TERRIBLE low quality textures. Wolfenstein: the new order runs and looks amazing. Is this some kind of directX glitch? I was using the latest beta drivers, I now am using the WQHL driver. Same problem. Anyone else experience this??

Try an older driver and see if it changes things. What card were you using previously and were the drivers from that other card completely wiped from the system?

It's just strange that it would start doing it out of no where. I'm pretty sure drivers don't just destroy themselves...Last card was a Gigabyte 7950. Had 0 problems.

in your catalyst control panel set texture filtering quality to high quality.

Wow I never thought of that!....That is the first thing I do when I get a new video card you fool.

Take a look at this...Are we clear now? This is at max settings..

Why do I have to be a fool when offering help ?

enjoy your problems.... later

This is actually happening to me on the 290x as well

Sorry, I thought you were being sarcastic. =/

Here is Skyrim..
Strangely. Metro 2033 Redux is not plagued with this issue...WTF IS GOING ON??

Roll back to older driver set perhaps.

Wow, those pics look like they're from like 2002 :o

Not sure what the deal is, never had that issue with my cards... But I would uninstall driver, clean sweep as thorough as possible, reinstall what you know to have been good. If that doesn't work, I'd uninstall/reinstall one of the affected games and see if it helps. Then make sure Windows is functioning properly, all updates...

I've had stray patches of Skyrim look like that with all video cards, but never the entire scene. I'd reinstall if I were you after using Display Driver Uninstaller to clean out all old drivers (I do both brands - tend to switch around a lot). Then I'd delete the .ini files in My Games and once then game suggests a setting I'd override it to Ultra (even if that's what it chooses). Sometimes things just get wonky and you need a complete reset.

I was thinking the same thing. I will try this after work and report back. I don't wanna switch back to Nvidia..but the 970's are pretty damn tempting right now...

I just got an XFX R9 290 DD yesterday from Newegg (great Black Friday sale!). Its the model with the stock 947 Mhz and is running all my games perfectly at the moment. Very and cool and quiet too - hasn't topped 64C while gaming and only got up to 70C with Heaven (fans on auto). Strongest $215 video card I've ever bought!

Ok, uninstalled EVERYTHING. Clean driver install of the new beta (that I was using originally that worked fine for weeks..) Same problem. I am absolutely baffled. Really AMD? REALLY??

I'm not convinced it's an AMD problem. I had that problem with Fallout 3 a couple different times. I don't recall exactly how I fixed it, but I think I deleted (renamed) the fallout.ini file in my user account and let it create a new one.

It seems to only be happening in Directx 9 games. Interesting...

Here's my new XFX DD R9 290 in Skyrim:

Have you verified your Skyrim files in Steam?

What drivers are you using? Give it a couple weeks and then come back...mine was fine and all of a sudden broke..its confirmed...only directx 9 games. Yes, I have verified the game files in steam.

Current (14.9)

I tried again to 14.9 currently. Same problem..

My thought too - download and install DirectX

I have not tried yet. Microsoft makes it so confusing to download directX. Do I have to delete my whole directx folder in my windows directory? I'm thinking of reformatting at this point.

Damn, I'm dumb...Thank you.

EDIT - Did not correct the problem...
