OFFICIAL The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Discussion)

Well, I'm lvl 20 in Skelligie and the main questline is pretty easy, lol. All the quests seem to be about lvl 14-16 for the main quest.

Damn, can't play as much as I'd want to, having a job is getting in the way. I'm only level 6 ready to explore Oxenfurt ... and maybe ready to call in sick.

That's why it has taken me so long just to reach level 12. but that's ok. I'm enjoying myself exploring and drinking in the magnificent world of the Witcher. When you really stop and think about it, there is just SO MUCH content in this game!!

I'm enjoying the "Named" swords I've found. They are relics (one silver and one steel), and take 3 runestones each. They really do some massive damage. Suddenly, some of the monsters aren't so big and bad!

Besides work and the gym, I don't have much else to do here in Iraq except play it. That's why I'm so far, lol.

That was me in afghan a couple weeks ago.. played an unhealthy amount of CK2

It has downgraded visuals from what was shown at E3 2013 I believe and so I won't pay full price for this game or close to it. Also the performance of it at times is so poor with certain effects they were bragging about the game having with the help of Nvidia so that is another knock on it. Glad in multiple ways it is disappointing as I have a large back log of games to get through already anyway.

You've not paid attention. Visuals don't make the game and certainly aren't the primary factor in any Witcher game. And know what? Firsthand experience, it looks plenty fabulous anyway!!

Second, you are making sweeping pronouncements about poor performance and poor effects which are all based on the hearsay of what is really a relative few. You do a harsh disservice, not having actually played it, to the years of work put in by what is quite possibly the best game studio, putting in more content than I have ever seen in a game...and actually making it work.

Third, in a reiteration of and confirmation you've not actually played it, you pronounce it "disappointing." Please do, with all your own firsthand experience playing it, tell us all what is "disappointing" about the gameplay, content beyond imagining, and the rich tale and world it immerses the player in?

This whole complaining about "downgrade" thing is like complaining that a car that made it to production didn't look enough like the concept car. Concept cars don't even usually have engines, or interiors, they're just a shell to get people interested, which is exactly what most early footage of games is at E3 -- a concept to get people excited and interested.

also alpha builds are ran at pcs with high end hardware used by devs while final game is ment to be played at wide range of hardware starting from console and ending with high end multi gpu pc with 4k monitor. it should run flawessly on all those so man cant expect visuals from alpha builds will persist in final version with same quality.

For those complaining about the Downgrade keep in mind the biggest change was the rendering engine. The assets remain the same its just the rendering engine could not cope on consoles. It just wouldnt work. So they changed it. I mean they could have just not released the game on consoles but then they would never make back their money resulting in CDprojekt Red becoming the next Valve moving away from games to focus on Digital. It is what it is. SweetFX can get you pretty damn close as is.

Yup, the game overall is a success but I've got to say though... When you're a PC gamer and you spend over 2500$ for your system, you're allowed to wish for orgasmic graphics and HIGH res textures all around. That said:

I know CDPR won't let us down, they'll prob release a .ini patch soon and allow for a MOD kit to be released which will allow people to tweak the game to their heart's content... and THEN we will be able to enjoy what PCs can do that Consoles can't

It's just like saying this about movies:
You don't need good quality of visual effects and cameras in a movies, only a good story just the same way you can't say:
You don't need a good story in a movie, action and visual effects are enough

I've enjoyed movies that had only one element down (only the good story, or only the good visual effects, but both are PILLARS OF THE IMMERSION required for being transported into another word.

Lastly, remember that here it's a question of preference and opinion. You might be entirely happy with a fast food burger because in your mouth it tastes good and you like the "price" $$ But some people here are willing to pay EXTRA $$$ for damn fine Filet Mignon Steak (you get the methaphor here... I understand every single PC gamer who wants the very best in terms of graphics, after all we're in 2015, we dished out entire PayChecks for them good graphics)

So please people, I respect your opinion of the game, can we (graphics lovers) have ours respected as well???

Boo Hoo want high res stuff start tweaking the INI, you can triple the grass distance and make grass so thick it looks like "Dat Grass" from Skyrim. You can improve draw distance on nearly all objects. You can improve overall visual quality untill even 2x GTX Titan X are not good enough to cope.

Horizon Tree Distance / Thickness Ultra quality 1.8 vs Tweaked 6

Pretty sure CDPR didn't tell you to spend $2500 on hardware to play their game. You don't need to spend that much, really, to play any game maxed out. Unless you're trying to run 4K, expect to pay a lot of money just to run the game..

And really, the close up detail, such as faces, armor and weapons looks as good as anything in the trailers. They did a remarkable job with lifelike faces, even catching subtle facial expressions and nuances in body language.

sure the graphics was downgraded but guess what ? the game is still worth that $60 price tag. the game has so much to offer is one of the best games i played in a long time and it still looks pretty as hell.
so dont let the downgrade stop from enjoying a fun game. there more to some games graphics and this coming from a graphics whore cuz i love me awesome graphics lol

I agree. I'm enjoying the game very much still. what can I say? I'm a perfectionnist.

*** Is there a GTX 970 SLI benchmark somewhere out there? I've been trying to find it, can't find it yet ***

I thought people were complaining that most modern games were too dull and brown? I like how Witcher 3 has a full color pallete.

I love feasting my eyes on the abundance of colors in this game.

Are strong winds common in the game world or where its based on? I only see them swaying like that when a typhoon is coming in my region at least (and on beaches/shorelines)
