Task 1: Use the lab topology shown along with these instructions to plan your IP addressing scheme:

Two 2621 routers with WIC-2T interface cards installed
R1-ISP
R2-MyNetwork
One 2960 TT switch named Local #1
Two PCs named PC0 and PC1
One server named randy-server
Note: The display names have already been set; you will have to program the hostname on both routers to match the display name. In general, all strings (names, passwords, banners) should be typed exactly as specified in these instructions in order for Packet Tracer to grade the activity properly.

You have been given the block address of 162.50.136.0 /22. You must provide for existing networks as well as for future growth. Conserve as many host addresses as possible.

Subnet assignments are:

1st subnet, future randy-server LAN, up to 300 hosts (not yet implemented)
2nd subnet, future MyNetwork LAN 1, up to 200 hosts (not yet implemented)
3rd subnet, existing MyNetwork LAN, up to 90 hosts
4th subnet, future MyNetwork LAN 2, up to 50 hosts (not yet implemented)
5th subnet, existing randy-server LAN, up to 12 hosts
6th subnet, existing WAN, point-to-point link
IP address assignments and cabling:

for the server, configure the highest usable address on its subnet
for R1-ISP's Fa0/0 interface, configure the lowest usable address on its subnet
for R1-ISP's S0/0 interface, configure the lowest usable address on its subnet
for R2-MyNetwork's S0/0 interface, use the highest usable address on its subnet
for R2-MyNetwork's Fa0/0 interface, use the lowest usable address on its subnet and connect it to port Fa0/24 of Local #1 switch
for host PC0, use the 5th usable address on its subnet and connect it to port Fa0/5 of Local #1 switch
for host PC1, use the 10th usable address on its subnet and connect it to port Fa0/10 of Local #1 switch
Task 2: Build and configure the network:

Build the network, taking care to make connections as specified. You will configure both of the routers, the server, and the two PCs.

randy-server

connect the proper cable to Fa0/0 of the R1-ISP router
IP address is the highest usable in its network
setup DNS for its own domain name (randy-server.com)
turn on both DNS and Web services
R1-ISP

must be configured via the CLI
Fa0/0 connects to randy-server
S0/0 connects to S0/0 of R2-MyNetwork
Fa0/0
IP address is the lowest usable in its subnet
description is "connection to the server"
S0/0
IP address is the lowest usable in its subnet
description is "connection to the R2-MyNetwork router"
DCE side of the WAN cable with a clock rate of 1000000
Additional information to be programmed
all passwords are set and encrypted (enable = class, VTY & Console = cisco)
banner is " Authorized Personnel Only, STAY OUT! "
hostname
turn off the DNS lookup function
Static route to the existing MyNetwork LAN
R2-MyNetwork

must be configured via the CLI
Fa0/0 connects to port Fa0/24 of Local #1 switch
S0/0 connects to S0/0 of R1-ISP
Fa0/0
IP address is the lowest usable in its subnet
description is "connection to Local #1 switch"
S0/0
IP address is the highest usable in its subnet
description is "connection to the R1-ISP router"
DTE side of the cable
Additional information to be programmed
all passwords are set and encrypted (enable = class, VTY & Console = cisco)
banner is " Authorized Personnel Only, STAY OUT! "
hostname
turn off the DNS lookup function
default static route back to the R1-ISP router
PC0

connects to port Fa0/5 of Local #1 switch
IP address is the 5th usable address of its subnet
PC1

connects to port Fa0/10 of Local #1 switch
IP address is the 10th usable address of its subnet

I mean I'd love to sit down and teach you how to do this, but.. didn't your class try to already? Not exactly prepared to do your homework for you.

You Failed Task 1 marks 0/100
If you put as much effort in class as you did posting you may get a higher mark

To try not to be completely mean, if you say which part confuses you, maybe we can offer guidance without having to do the whole assignment.

So hang on, the OP simply makes his first post on this forum a copy paste of some complex classroom networking exercise and expects us to answer it? There's not even a covering note to give this some context and a show of appreciation for the help requested. This is taking liberties.

I'll pass.

This.

It's extremely basic and fundemental stuff, but it's stuff you just have to learn. If it doesn't make sense, read up and ask an eventual teacher questions until you do understand, because you have to understand. Well the last bit depends a bit on what your plan with it is, but I assume it'll get more complicated going forward. If you don't understand the basics in networking you don't stand a chance.

I try to assume the best of people, but it certainly looks that way, doesn't it?

Absolutely looks that way. I'll bet he's spammed this to several forums too. I've reported the thread and suggested that perhaps it be closed depending on how it goes.

In fact, I can see that he logged out the minute he made the post, as it says last seen 30 minutes ago and the post was 30 minutes ago. This implies spamming and no respect for the forum members that he's asking help from. Nice.

Newsflash: You are in school to learn. Convincing other people to do your assignment teaches you nothing except how to be manipulative, lazy, and ignorant. If those are your goals, then I suggest you study to be a politician, not a network administrator....

We don't do other folk's homework here.

Best of luck.
