Problem with GPU voltage

Can you say what is voltage thats not safe to exceed on HD 7970 cards (and withCHL822x VRM overall)
It seems that my 1200MHz did crash with 1.250V My target was 1200MHz-1225MHz.

If you crash even with bumping the voltage up, you have reached the treshold of the card (maybe VRM, maybe chip). My card on 1.281 V doesn't go over 63 °C and the VRMs go to about 65 °C, so I think it's safe to say you should go back to the last stable result you've had.

Ive gone as far as 1.4V on a watercooled 7970, and it lived on just fine, but for air i dont see it as viable to go beyond 1.2-1.25 depending on your cooling.

Please, for your own and the GPUs good, don't go that high. Your GPUs VRMs are getting very hot (see my post #26), you probably don't have proper VRM cooling and your temperatures will jump. What is your power limit setting on 1.250 V and 1200 MHz when you get crash?

Well, in that case, I suggest you keep the temperatures of the chip and VRM below 80 °C and you should be fine.
