OFFICIAL Star Citizen

Actually, I think the business model of selling early access DLC ships will continue after release. These will ostensibly be for funding new content.
Sure base packages probably. Other ships doubtful. People would be making good money selling the ships offline. They don't want that.

I agree with both of you. I believe gamers will surprise us all at how fast they will get ships by grinding, but I don't think they will stop selling ships either.

weeeeeee... wait...

that's just too weird ... the only ships i can display in my hangar are MISC Starfarer and MISC Starfarer Gemini o_O (while i didn't bought any ... )
ScreenShot0105.jpg ScreenShot0106.jpg

oh well ... additionally i swapped a cutlass for a Buccaneer (meaning Sabre in Electronic Access ) and a Aurora LN for the Drake Dragonfly Black (could not resist) not putting more money in it ... just juggling with ship upgrade  until i am satisfied.

yep they definitively changed something .... took me long enough to figure the new hangar layout... kinda like it
ScreenShot0109.jpg
i did not remember having a VNCL Glaive ... nor a Sabre  oh well at last i can see how they look now

also ... just for fun ... NF4-160F front turret + Flashfire mount and Apocalypse Arms Revenant Gatling on a F7C-S Ghost ... so much for the stealth ...

All flyable ships are available to all backers at the moment as a celebration of the 4th anniversary of the project.

we've had discussions on the ship sales a few pages back. I repeated then what the plan was for revenue and that large ship sales will stop once the game is live - why do you keep repeating that they will sell additional ships for money afterwards?

Grr... Squad42 delayed....
Hah so after reporting this earlier then retracting it. I am right in the end.... I definitely echo your Grrr tho. It's all I'm really interested in.

No, I agree it's as basic as it gets pretty much.

I think it's very possible when we're all in the released game and people start seeing others just picking up ships in game, there's going to be a few people watering space with their tears thinking they actually had a ship worth that much money. Hehe.

I have a feeling ships like the Javelin are going to be hard to get.. They should be..
Now if I can just scrounge up another 300 bucks.. I'll get a javelin too..lol..
I've got about 450.00 in meltable ships.. So yea.. My urge to splurge is kicking in.. It looks gorgeous.. It's more what I wanted than the Connie for sure..

Id love a cap ship but Im sure most of the time Ill be flying around solo. Plus, gotta wonder how much its going to keep them maintained, fueled, stocked, etc. Heh, Ive been very good and havent melted my Phoenix yet.

How long are all ships flyable for?

Because this practice of selling early access to ships is much too profitable for them give up even after the supposed release of the game.
Since it has been previously announced the intention to continue to add content via patches, the justification for continued sales of new ships to fund future development has been proffered.
You'll have to excuse me if I don't take everything said by CIG, RSI, or yourself as the Gospel, and continue to make judgements based on what I see.

They won't need to sell new ships, as they will get enough revenue from game purchases, purchases of single player campaigns, and purchases of in-game credits. Also the profitability of selling ships will drop off a cliff as soon as people can earn them in-game.

@human_error
You could be right, but I don't see any of those purchases amounting to the sales generated by new Concept Ships with LTI.

There are plenty of good charities out there. And none of them are named CIG.

You guys have til Feb 2017 to get refunds

Lol charities... You mean the places people give money to, that pocket 90% of it and no actual charitable contribution is ever made to anything?
Take my chances giving to homeless people.. I'm happy with the development.. Again I say, don't cry if you spend more than you can afford.. Show restraint, like an adult..

I'm dying with lol's right now by the way.. You quote a Derek Smart article? lmfao.. You mean the guy that made every penny he has, off selling crappy sci fi games? And I stress crappy.. Yea, if that's not the not calling the kettle black, idk what is..
If this was a Derek Smart game, and thank God it's not... He would of rushed out an incomplete, pile of crap, like he always does.. He's just mad someone made a game better than anything he could ever accomplish..

You are really linking to that guy? lol.. Either way, if I wanted to contribute towards a charity I would (and do sometimes). There's a video game I want made and I decided to fund that this time instead. Apologies for my selfishness.

Refunds are fine. The initial kickstarter didn't have the scope the game has now and was basically completed at 19 million. At that point CIG asked the community if they should keep going or not and almost 90% of close to 100,000 people said yes. The refunds are nice for those that didn't want or pledge money towards a more ambitious game.

What is telling about this company, is the way they make people spend money on lawyers to obtain refunds.
In several cases such as the one cited above, they tried to make the the new TOS binding retroactively.
Even if CIG/RSI winds up making the greatest game there ever was, there is absolutely no excuse for the way they treat their backers.

I mean, you can't really call Star Citzen any more than a bunch of jpegs and a scripted tech demo at this point. But some people have different ideas of what constitutes as a game, I guess...

Agreed.
With the lack of progression in performance improvements and game mechanics for various roles and professions, I'm finding it very difficult to believe we will see what was shown at PAX in just under 10 weeks.

Man you sure do spew a bunch of opinonated crap.. Like I said.. Do a little research on your beloved Derek Smart.. Takes a hell of a nerve to post anything related to him, in a straight face.. You must not know anything about him.. Some people dream big, like the star citizen team.. Some people make half assed games and rush them out unfinished, like Derek Smart.. If you're just coming in here to bash the game, you should find a better hobby.. Getting old..

No one thinks the game is done.. Except you.. Most of us knew what we signed up for and are more than willing to wait..

Agreed.

And yet, even in it's current state, unfinished, it's more of a game than most Derek Smart ever made.. AND sold...lol
Frankly the real fans like myself, will hang in there for a finished and polished game..
I think I can speak for most backers, who aren't short sighted when I say... Idc if the timeline is extended again.. When it's done.. It's done..

What a load of crap.. I had an issue with them and asked for a refund on an unclearly labeled item and I got a refund.. You're just spewing jibberish you read from some online page..

He's kinda right. There is a game but not much to it. But, some are drawn to negativity and pseudo developers that have never been successful so they take to being a Twitter troll. But, until the game is actually released, there's going to be a wild spectrum of opinions and attention grabbing that comes with something that makes a whole bunch of money.
