Intel Core i9-7900X Overclocked To 5.7GHz Breaking Cinebench World Records

Yes.

Its faster clock for clock...ryzen ipc is a few % slower and they are clocking higher on ln2 it seems.

Do you happen to recall the speed of the 1800x when it broke the 8c / 16 t record? Was it slower then this chip? Unfortunately, i don't recall :(

If @ a lower speed, obviously it will lose VS this chip but if @ higher speed, then perhaps that would overcome it's slightly smaller IPC? Dunno, really: just wondering!

No, that's my brother. I shit you not, the kid actually has 4 kidneys.

Me? I get by without them, which means I have to spend something called money. :(
well, if he has four and you have none, seems like an easy solution.

Give me 5Ghz on shitty stock air cooling and that would have been news. Not this L2 bs...

If I was less squeamish maybe.

PS: My human incarnation actually has two kidneys, but I ain't selling them either.

its news for the thousands that like to push their chips to the limit.

...now, let me get out of your orbit. :p

Some people can't see that they are only but a tree in the forest. In other words, not all news caters directly to them.

Remember this people. No, I made clear this is not relevant to "mainstreamers" but there is an audience that appreciates news like this. That's why it's here.

I guess this wasn't delidded and ran with that shitty pepsodent-grade TIM?

.....its so nice to see AMDers with something to actually brag about...for real this time

AMD feeling the pinch? almost.

And what, does your mum work at Intel or something so you get the latest CPU when it's out? The only reason I am rooting for AMD right now on both fronts is because without them I would still pay 300 euros for a 4 core CPU and 400 euros for a mid-range GPU. It is in everyone's interest when there is competition.

I really don't get this fanboy bullshit:confused:

I think you misinterpreted @ensabrenoir 's post.

Anyways, interesting times ahead for sure! Thankfully, AMD's Zen architecture is a success.

those who says something like "game over AMD", "Intel is still the king"... you must be aware - that previous intels HEDT 12c/20t chip costed 1700$, and the 8c/16t costed 1000$ (and that for few generations - since 2011-v1) - now these prices are -50%, just like that... guess which other CPU maker made that possible for all uf us ?

A swiftly created spreadsheet - using the data you provided in the quote below - tells a different story ...

Interesting ...
The HT in Ryzen is the secret sauce, check any reviews & it gets better scaling than Intel with 16 threads except certain outliers. Impressive considering it's it's just their first try, ST IPC is indeed at par or just below Broadwell but that in itself tells you nothing, for instance crypto benchmarks favor AMD heavily especially with Ryzen.

results depend on efficinecy of the user (tweaks used...os, memspeed, etc etc) which can be a few percent difference. Id also imagine that amd submission was worked on more than the intel sub at this point. Youll find your spreadsheet chamges with each submission. Some may show more, some less. :)

That said, i also recall smt being more efficient than intel...

Well, it's the first time AMD has SMT, I remember that P4's HT wasn't that fine like it is these days.. I mean, they sure will optimize it later.

Maybe... not sure how much more efficicent ht has become since then.. i dont imagine it to be too big of a difference though, honestly. Ht was always seemingly ~50% of a core give or take a few percent of course.

What's impressive is that they are at the party 10 years late. Plenty of time to understand and develop the technology. It's like saying, wow impressive X country has landed on the moon in the year 2017. Too bad it was done 40+ years ago.

If only designing chips was easy as landing on the moon, Intel would've had the mobile market strung up. But even billions of dollars didn't buy them a puny share over there, this against the hamstrung AMD (in terms of $ they had for R&D & what not) vs a hostile monopoly in Intel.

Everyone does understand this is one benchmark that shows ryzen is faster per clock. I imagine quite a few would show the opposite even in gaming. While I find it excellent that AMD finally has something competitive, there are still massive shortfalls with ryzen. Those of you betting on threadripper might be somewhat disappointed as time moves on as well, you in essence are being given a 2P/4P system on a single piece of silicon. Be prepared for those shortfalls. LOL

Also those of you who are never impressed by LN2 clocking, because it isn't feasible for everyday. No one cares about your opinion and posting them in every single freaking thread is a waste of bandwidth and time.

... sell both Kidneys and thus, die.
I'm sure you'd be able to to post a cinebench score with stock clocks while connected to dialysis machine ... beneficiaries of your will would have to overclock it though

Literal housefire requireing ln2

just like the ryzen one

means absolutely nothing to people who actually want to use their pc

Neither do 99% of benchmarks out there. Yet people do them. You know why? Because some people have hobbies that differ from you.
